Check Out Japan’s “Steamiest” Hot Springs City!
Welcome to Beppu Japan, a city so steamy that it it came up with a wild and wacky way to celebrate it:
Yes, A “Watery” Roller Coaster!
Oh, how I love all things Japan. Here is the latest example: a water park that includes a “hot springs roller coaster!”
As the intrepid Reporters at RocketNews24 report:
“The city of Beppu, located in Oita Prefecture on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, uploaded to YouTube a video of people enjoying a day at an amusement park. Two things, though, made the proceedings very different from a day at Tokyo Disneyland or Universal Studios Japan.”
SoraNews24 goes on to report:
“Beppu is one of Japan’s premiere hot spring (or onsen, in Japanese) resorts. Because of that, every park-goer in the video was dressed in a towel, and the rides and attractions were filled with hot spring water.”
Yes, a roller coaster filled with water!
Wild! Can you riding in a roller coaster filled with water – and one that has soapy foam shot at you as you go by?
Count me in!
Here’s a video that shows it in action!
This reminded me of another “water” feature in a theme park:
Class Action Park!
Yes, they had some water rides – but some were deadly!

And don’t forget, when Disneyland announced their reopening recently, they followed Japan’s lead and had just one request:
Yes, they followed the lead of Japan and asked people NOT to scream due to the pandemic!

I think these roller coasters would be very popular here in South Africa, John. Our weather is so good.

We are looking to go there in 2023…it’s a “once in a lifetime” trip for us, based on where we live!

Yes, it is a very long trip. That is part of the reason we haven’t travelled to the USA, the jet lag is so bad.

Robbie, I sent a TV crew to S.A. to film, and that Atlanta/JBurg non-stop is BRUTAL!

Yes, maybe it is better to stop over in Europe.

Not something you see every day.
I’m curious if the noise factor at Disneyland is actually working. It seems like much of the noise would be involuntary.

It’s a funny way to try and keep the spread of covid in check – I think once you are on a ride all bets for social decorum are off! Thanks for commenting, always great to hear from you!
