“Have Fun Storming The Castle!”
It’s just one of the many iconic lines from “The Princess Bride” – a cult film that has grown in stature over the years – and now you can hear the original cast as they perform the script live!
“The Princess Bride” Reunion – Sept. 13!
Just the good news we need right now!
The cast of “The Princess Bride” will reunite virtually for a reading of the script of the 1987 classic, as a virtual fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
Look At The All-Star Lineup!
We are seeing this a lot tin a chaotic 2020: reunions and special “cast” events for classic films and TV shows, all being done to raise money either for covid-related relief funds or the upcoming election.
This fundraising event is for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin – and it is bringing together the original cast for a live reading of the film’s script!
And who is taking part? Well, look at this! Cary Elwes will reprise this role as Westly, Robin Wright returns as Buttercup, plus all of these stars as well:
Carol Kane as Valerie, Christopher Guest as Count Rugen, Chris Sarandon as Prince Humperdinck, Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya, Wallace Shawn as Vizzini and Billy Crystal as Miracle Max.
Whoopi Goldberg, Eric Idle, Jason Reitman and Josh Gad are among the guests added to a virtual reunion of The Princess Bride on Sept. 13 as well, and Patton Oswalt will host a post-read Q&A with Director Rob Reiner as well!
The livestreamed event will be held at 7 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. PT on September 13. Go to Wisconsin’s Democratic Party webpage here for more details and to sign up.
The event will raise money for Wisconsin’s state Democratic party, with a signup and donation required to view but no minimum amount required.
In a statement released through the state party, Actor Carey Elwes said this:
“I think most people are aware by now that Donald Trump has completely abdicated his duties as President to represent and stand up for all Americans. He has failed to keep the country safe from COVID-19 and as a result he is responsible for the devastating chaos, violence and economic collapse that we are now experiencing.”
Rob Reiner, who directed the film, will also guest star as “The Grandfather” in the reading.
Elwes added this:
“If America is going to have a real chance at healing we must get rid of Trump. And that is only possible if we win Wisconsin. I am thrilled to be part of this very rare reunion of my colleagues from The Princess Bride as a way to increase awareness and garner resources for the state that will determine the fate of America.”
Regardless of your political belief, this is going to be an amazing pop culture event!
Now, here’s another way to enjoy the film as well – by reading the original novel!
That’s right: the legendary William Goldman wrote this initially as a novel before adapting it into the film.
Goldman was one of Hollywood’s great Screenwirters:
Goldman won Oscars for “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” as well as “All The President’s Men”, and wrote “Marathon Man” and many others as well.

I must say American’s are fabulous with how they fight for their rights and demonstrate disapproval and show what they want. Well done.

Well, if only we weren’t so idiotic that we fight against the very safety protocols that would help end this pandemic faster! We need leadership.

Well yes, but mask wearing has become politicized in the USA which is very unfortunate. It is not optional here. If you don’t wear one, you can get arrested and the police are on the streets. Our people are happy generally to wear them anyway. They are very scared of Covid-19 and know they keep them safe. That is why our death rate has been kept so low I think.

Such a sad sad person…to rabidly support someone who accused your father of killing Kennedy, and made disparaging remarks against your wife!
