Sharing this again…a look at Bruce Springsteen’s haunting yet inspiring look at America after 9/11 and our ability to rise above the senseless tragedy…Springsteen got the inspiration for the album a few days after the 9/11 attacks, when a stranger in a car stopped next to him, rolled down his window and said: “We need you now.”
I posted this story originally in 2014…Bruce Springsteen’s brilliant album about America in the aftermath of 9/11…

I didn’t know this. Can you imagine a stranger pulling up to you and saying, “We need you now’? That would be the greatest inspiration.

Right? And I completely understand what he meant: we needed someone to tell us we were going to be OK…next year I will be sharing my story of being in New York that day, and all that happened to me…like how I saw President Clinton walking down a blocked street several days after the horrific attack, and how the people of New York walked with him and cheered him because they did, indeed, need him at that moment…I have always planned to share the story but am waiting for the 20th anniversary

How wonderful that you plan to share your story on the 20th anniversary. Thank you, John. That will be a special read. We really do need someone to tell us it’s going to be okay.

“Leadership” is the ability to do the right thing and make the right decisions when times are difficult, and the choices are as well…to exude that ability in tough times is what will help us all, collectively, get through this unp[recedented time.
