So, what is “Marriage Unarranged?” Here’s a look!
‘Chickpea Curry’ Lit — Chick Lit with an Indian twist!
I am so happy for my Blogging friend Ritu Bhathal – her first novel, with a gorgeous cover, is now for sale!
Her novel takes you on a journey of self-discovery – and finding love no matter where that path takes you!
Here’s the plot:
Aashi’s life was all set.
Or so she thought.
Like in the Bollywood films, Ravi would woo her, charm her family and they’d get married and live happily ever after.
But then Aashi found the empty condom box…
What a set up for a story! It continues:
Putting her ex-fiancé and her innocence behind her, Aashi embarks upon an enlightening journey, to another country, where vibrant memories are created, and unforgettable friendships forged.
Old images erased, new beginnings to explore.
And how can she forget the handsome stranger she meets? A stranger who’s hiding something…
So there you go, a woman who thought her life was all “arranged” suddenly embarks on a journey of self-discovery!
This terrific story offers an inside look at a culture that “arranges” love – and what happens when those arrangements fall apart….the story is well told, as it jumps between various characters, so you get a fully three-dimensional story, with rich characters with real emotions – and it’s beautifully written as well.
I don’t want to reveal anything more, except to say the writing is grownup and captures the relationship between men and women, and between friends, very well – and shows a woman searching for a new life as the one she dreamed of is blown apart.
Here’s a bit of biographical information on the Author:
Ritu Bhathal was born in Birmingham, UK, in the mid-1970’s to migrant parents, hailing from Kenya but with Indian origins. This colourful background has been a constant source of inspiration to her.
Check out her blog here:
The novel is obviously written with Ritu’s cultural awareness – and it is all the better because of that.
Another terrific book I shared recently is a candid memoir by an Actress who achieved great success in the UK, and ended up restoring a French Chateau!
Fiona Lewis had a great career, so how did she end up trying to renovate an abandoned French Chateau on her own? Well, it’s a terrific read – you can get more details here:
