A #wanderlust Venice Adventure!

As we all go through our various levels of #QuarantineLife, my wife Alex and I have persevered by planning another trip to explore the world – as soon as it reopens!

Looking back at one of our magical adventures to Venice Italy – and a boat trip to the “lace capital” of the work!

We are looking back at our adventures in this magical city as we prepare to head to one of the islands in the Venice lagoon – Burano, home to lace and risotto good enough for Keith Richards!

Heading To the Lace Capital Of The World!

Yes, Burano is known as the greatest place to get real lace, intricately woven art that has lasted for generations.

We took a Water Taxi to get there from Venice, and it goes through Venice’s side canals before hitting the Grand Canal – take a look:

  1. I enjoyed getting the virtual tour! Thank you, never been to Venice (or Europe for that matter). I didn’t know there was such a lace capital, I’ve always loved lace and those are some beautiful work of art. I’ve always been fascinated with Murano glass and the amazing way they create those. I also enjoyed looking at those colorful street markets. Thanks for sharing.

One of these days I will get to Italy! Venice is on my bucket list. My grandmother and her sisters crochet a specific family lace pattern that was used for doilies and table clothes. I have one short tablecloth. Sadly, my mother was never good enough (according to her grandmother) and when the old strega tried to teach me, there were more tears than rows. Lost art.

  5. I loved Venice I just hope once Covid-19 is over they restrict the boats for the sake of the wildlife …I guess I live in dreamland though it will probably be business as usual …Enjoy your trip planning 🙂

  6. I loved this post, John. Tried to like and comment on your site, but the WP gremlins won’t let me. The colors of Italy are beautiful. I love that the Venice waters are returning to what they once were, with fish – since Covid19 has kept people away.
