The “Robo Twins” Are Here!
I happened upon this photo – which had the photo credit MANDEL NGAN / AFP Photo / Getty Images. Terrific shot.
Of course, I was intrigued when I saw this picture, for good reason. And what caught my eye was the description of this photo:
“Stripper robots perform at the Sapphire Gentlemen’s Club on the sidelines of CES 2018 in Las Vegas on January 8, 2018”
You know what day it is: “What The Friday?!??!?!” hits the stage with the “Robo Twins!”
Yes, They Are “Stripper Robots!”
OK, what are they and more importantly: why are they?
Well, it all began with British Artist Giles Walker, who originally created them in 2012 for a show called ‘Peepshow.’
They premiered at the Consumer Electronic Show in 2018 – and here’s what they did:
Walker’s Robots certainly knew their moves!
Here’s what happened next – after being shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2018 they headed to a Men’s Club in Manhattan!
A $30 cover charge allowed you in to see the sexy robots, with their gyrating hips and smooth moves sliding up and down stripper poles.
The event called it the Robo Twins’ ‘only New York appearance’ before they ‘go across the pond’ to London.
The Robo Twins were invited to the New York club after they ‘created a lot of interesting debate over in Las Vegas during the CES event at the beginning of the month,’ British artist Giles Walker, who created the robotic strippers, explained in an email to Dailymail.com.
‘They kind of stole the show down there in fact.’
British artist Giles Walker’s robot strippers are made out of rubbish like scrap mannequins and car parts – and while it may seem like the robots are are supposed to be a commentary on robotics or job automation, the artist says otherwise.
He says the robots are actually a comment on the nature of surveillance, power and voyeurism – OK then!
I didn’t find any update on what the “Twins” have been up to since then, but I can’t wait to find out – and remember, Robots doing unique jobs are nothing new!
Remember The “Anchorbots?”
Yes, in Japan they unveiled a robotic News Anchor!
Click here to see it in action:
And another incredible Artist, this time from Japan, actually made music video with only nude robots!
You can’t make this stuff up – there’s no nudity at all – they are just mannequins, but they do really know how to dance1 See the music video here:

Not sure its the best use of robotics, Robbie – but since a Visual Artist created it, there was at least a reason for it – thanks as always for reading – it’s always great to hear from you!

Thanks for the comment! It’s a strange use of robotics, but to each their own!
