Beware Of Falling Iguanas! “What The Friday!?!??!” Florida’s Cold Iguanas Are Passing Out!

The National Weather Service Has Issued A “Falling Iguana” Warning!

Well, you don’t see this often: a government agency warning people about Iguanas falling from trees!

“What The Friday” has the story!

A “Cold Weather” Iguana Warning!

It all starts with the weather of course.

A cold spell in Florida caused falling Iguanas: The National Weather Service’s office in Miami reported that the cold weather immobilized the Iguanas, who then fall from the trees!

As the National Weather Service said on Tuesday:

“This isn’t something we usually forecast, but don’t be surprised if you see Iguanas falling from the trees tonight as lows drop into the 30s and 40s!”

As news services rushed to report this, it’s important to note that the effect isn’t deadly. When Iguanas are stunned by the cold, they often simply stop moving in trees or fall.

Of course, Florida’s social media Reporters rushed to take take photos and video of the stunned Iguanas lying motionless on the ground, many of them with their legs in the air!

Experts say the Iguanas are likely to survive just fine – and they warn that even if the animals aren’t able to move their limbs, they can still deliver a painful bite – so don’t touch!

As one news service pointed out, Iguanas have the nickname “chicken of the trees.”
So of course, there have been reports in Miami that “culinary-minded” people began seizing – and selling — Iguanas that fell from trees!

That’s right, some locals are making Iguana Tacos!

Enough about THAT! On a completely different note, remember when I shared this?

This “What The Friday” took you to Yokohama to visit the world’s first “Poo Museum!”

  1. Thank you for letting us know. I suppose that every reader must learn more information about iguanas. These creatures must be dangerous and useful at the same time.

  4. O my! We get all kinds of forecasts here in the Northwest, but fortunately none for Falling Iguanas.

I heard this report, poor things. But I’d have to admit, getting hit with a falling iguana may be worse than seagull droppings on my head.

  6. Falling out of a tree when one has been immobilized by unusually cold weather sounds like it might hurt to me… But I am very glad that they aren’t killed by their falls… I agree with another commenter that we have plenty of other things to eat here on planet earth without having to consume iguanas. What is our problem as a species that we tend to devour everything in sight — even to the point of destroying the ecosystems that support our own lives here on planet earth?

  7. Awww! John, poor little things. I rather like all things lizard and feel so sorry for them. As for eating them, the thought is enough to put me off the bit of meat I do eat. A great and fascinating share. Happy Friday.

  8. If Iguana tastes like chicken then I see no need to switch from chicken 🙂 I’d love to them falling out of the trees, though!

  10. I really want to see iguanas falling from trees now! Shame we don’t have any in England. But I don’t like to think of people eating them because of that. There is enough food to eat already, without killing off the lizards!
    Best wishes, Pete.
