Whatever Happened To G4? Why Did “Attack Of The Show” Go Away?
It was one of the shows I was most proud to be part of: “Attack Of The Show” – a pop culture sensation, thanks to an incredible on-air team and a staff that never stopped trying to break the boundaries for entertainment…part of a great network that loved pop culture, technology, gaming and comics:
So, the question on this “cult movie Monday” is:
“What Happened?”
Many have wondered why “Attack Of The Show” went off the air, followed soon after by the entire network. Want to participate in solving this great pop culture mystery? Well, thanks to Chris Gore, you can!
“Attack Of The Doc!”
Gore has a kickstarter underway that will fund the production of a documentary that will celebrate this great show!
Chris was known to G4 viewers for his great “DVDuesday” segment on “Attack Of The Show”, the daily pop culture show that was G4’s biggest hit!
Become Part Of The “Attack!”
I just signed on, because this is a story that deserves to be told!
Now, you can be part of telling this great story as well!
Check out the trailer for this project, with music by the great Zach Selwyn:
Now, Chris wants to tell the story of “AOTS” and “G4″…as his Kickstarter says:
“Hosts Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira became household names along with other on-camera talent including Sarah Lane, Zach Selwyn, Sara Jean Underwood, Wil O’Neal, Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Alison Haislip, Carrie Keagan, Blair Butler, Blair Herter, Jessica Chobot, Candace Bailey and many others. Attack of the Show debuted in March of 2005 and was on the air until 2013, when it was abruptly canceled.”
So what happened? Well, that’s what the documentary wants to uncover…
The Kickstarter also states:
“It was more than just a show, AOTS fostered a fan community that gathered to chat about whatever happened on the internet that day. The hosts connected with the audience because they were the audience. And viewers were a part of the shenanigans. AOTS and the audience became like one giant geek family and chronicled the last moments of a pop culture community before it was fractured by social media.”
The documentary is going to be filled with great interviews, classic moments from the show, and never-before-seen footage from backstage as well.
Be Part Of “Attack Of The Doc!”
I just became backer of this project, and you can too!
Just two days to go, so click on the link here and take part – you not only get listed in the credits of the film, but you can win some really fun stuff as well!
I was proud of what we achieved at G4 – the first network to broadcast an entire show from the floor of Comic-Con!
We proved just how popular the network was with fans when our incredible talent sat and signed pictures for hours and hours as the fans lined up to meet them!
I posted a story about this event, with lots of fun pictures…check it out here:
We also took the show to Tokyo for a week of great adventures in one of the greatest places in the world…and that included a visit to the original “Ninja Warrior” set!
That was an incredible adventure as well…click here to see pics of Kevin and Olivia running the course!
Make sure to participate in the “Attack Of The Doc!” project and let’s get this story told!

Always good to read about your time at G4, John.
Sadly I have never seen any of the shows mentioned. I doubt they made it to the UK, or they might have been on satellite here, which I never had.
Best wishes, Pete.
