Incredible Human Pyramid! See Dangerous Video Of “Gymnastic Formation!” “What The Friday” Has The Details!

What The Friday?!? It’s Human Pyramid Season In Japan!

It’s Friday, and that means on thing:

“What The Friday?!?!?!??!”

Yes, “Human Pyramids” Are Back!

Well, I had never heard of this before, but thanks to the great website “Soranews24.com”, I can tell you about an incredible – and dangerous – physical feat in Japan!

“Amazing Japan Human Pyramid” Indeed!

Here’s the story from SoraNews24:

“In the month of October Japan celebrates “Sports Day” which is the anniversary of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and a holiday to inspire exercise for all. Around this time, schools all over the country hold Sports Festivals where they take part in a variety of physical activities from dancing to relay races.

However, one controversial act is known as “gymnastic formation” (kumi taiso), in which students climb on top of one another and balance to create pleasing geometric patterns. The most common type of gymnastic formation is the standard human pyramid.”

Yes, it’s as incredibly impressive and dangerous as it sounds!

Here is the video of a recent “gymnastic formation” – watch as they create an incredible human pyramid – which then goes very very wrong:

Well, what began as an incredible athletic achievement soon turned very scary – as “SoraNews24.com” reports:

“In the city of Kobe alone, 51 gymnastic formation-related injuries occurred between January to August of this year, and in the past three years 123 related fractures have been reported.”

It’s so dangerous, but it’s also a tradition that doesn’t seem to be going away…

SoraNews24.com has more details on the story, along with reactions from parents and teachers – check it out here:

  1. What a horrifying thing to be at the bottom of that pile of people falling. Hope they ended up being ok. I’ll eat the ramen and pass on the piranha!

  2. I have seen these human pyramids before, John. They are quite spectacular. I didn’t know so many injuries arose though. I would not eat a piranha. They are meat eating and I find the thought yucky.

  3. I have never actually seen the point of such pyramids. But I am old enough to remember when such things were mainstream entertainment on TV variety shows. 🙂
    Glad nobody was killed!
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. Yikes! I don’t think I’d want to be on top. And that piranha is still giving me the heebie-jeebies John!
