Who’s Up For Some “Piranha Ramen?” “What The Friday” Bites Down On A Dish That Bites Back!

Got 3000 yen? About $28? Then You Can Have Piranha Ramen!

Got your attention? Of course I do!

It’s another tasty “What The Friday!?!?!?!” Because you can get REAL Piranha Ramen – but you have to act fast if you want to bite down on a dish that promises to bite back!

Here’s the origin of this unique dish: on April Fools Day, the Japanese event creators Holiday Jack sent out a press release claiming they were going to sell the world’s first ever “Piranha Ramen.”

And they were stunned by the response!

As SoraNews24 reports:

“The response sent the Holiday Jack team into overdrive, as they attempted to win back the favour of ramen fans by finding a way to actually make this ramen dish a reality. So they went off and ordered a huge shipment of edible piranha from the Amazon River in South America!”

Yes, the company ordered TWO THOUSAND edible Piranha to be delivered to Tokyo, and now they are making good on their promise to serve up delicious “Piranha Ramen” to anyone who comes by!

They are referring to this as the “world’s first 100-percent piranha broth” – and who is going to argue?

Piranha Ramen will only be available from September 20-23, so if you want to head over, make sure you do it then!

Of course, SoraNews24 always has the greatest stories about life in Japan…you can see all of this story by clicking on their website here:

By the way, this isn’t the first unique ramen dish I’ve shared from Tokyo…anyone remember when I shared this story?

Yes, Jason Statham made a film called “Hummingbird” and in Tokyo, they created a special “black noodle ramen” dish to celebrate it – you can click here to see how it tasted, and what made it black!

  1. I have seen so many weird and wonderful things here that yes I would try it…It is probably nice to eat…Alligators have big teeth too and that is lovely meat …Another great post, John 🙂 x

  2. well – I did not see this coming. I doubt I would go out of my way to try this odd experience but if an easy opportunity to taste it came my way, I would likely give it a try, so I could say I did, then make some crack about how I prefer my normal chicken of the sea tuna. = another great weird find John.

  3. Well, it is indeed different. I wouldn’t give iit too many presentation points but food adventures may have to overlook that. Thanks for the fun read.

  4. Oh wow. I never knew people actually ate this fish!

  5. Piranha ramen? Oh good God no! There’s no way I’m that adventurous!😱

  6. LOL, I always marvel when I see what you come up with!

  7. Wrinkles her nose, shivers from head to toe, and has trouble swallowing her bite of McChicken. Sorry, I am the only bear you will ever meet who just can’t stand the thought of eating fish… or anything else that swims or sucks mud. Give me poultry, pork, beef, various wild beasts… but please, no fish! ~Shalom, Bear

    • Oh no! I grew up in Seattle so seafood of all kinds was my diet…you could literally pick up or fish out your dinner every night! My Mom still shucks fresh oysters right off the beach!

      • Oddly, I grew up on fish… mostly what I could catch by hand in the local creeks. Maybe I just had my earthly fill of them. I never really liked them… but when one is hungry… About once a year, usually during lent, I will torture myself with a single piece of fish… usually ends up with me being ill before I finish it, though.

      • Well, you at least tried when growing up!

  8. Yikes! Not this week. I’m not buying 😉

  9. I would have to try that, John, just to say I had eaten that unusual fish!
I have seen that film too. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.
