Zombies Board The “Train To Busan!” This “Cult Movie Monday” Is A Perfect “Shocktober” Thriller!

Get Ready To Board The “Terror Train!”

Oops! Looks like they overbooked – with Zombies!

Since it’s “Shocktober”, this week’s “Cult Movie Monday” is going to be one of the BEST zombie thrillers of all time!

The Terrifying “Train To Busan” Is Now Departing!

I had heard about this 2016 South Korean thriller, but hadn’t gotten around to seeing it until recently – and it blew my mind!

“Train to Busan” takes place as a zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in the country – and a group of passengers must band together until they reach safety – hopefully – in Busan…

The characters are all terrific: an estranged Father on the left must protect his small daughter, while a beefy tough guy must protect his pregnant wife…

Here is the trailer, which, as action packed as it seems, only hints at the wild wild wild nature of this movie thrill ride:

One of the most unique aspects of the film is how quickly someone can be killed and turned into a Zombie – so the pack just grows and grows and grows!

As Rotten Tomatoes noted:

“Train to Busan delivers a thrillingly unique – and purely entertaining – take on the zombie genre, with fully realized characters and plenty of social commentary to underscore the bursts of skillfully staged action.”

I was blown away by this film and I think you will be as well…a thrill ride with heart…a dynamite movie to watch during these #31daysofhalloween!

It’s a month of scary movies, including these three that all take place inside a house…click here to find out what you should be watching right now!

  1. I actually just recently saw this movie!! It was probably the most interesting zombie movie in its time – I find that a lot of zombie movies can be overdone but this one was a really good one. I felt bad for the dad in the end.

    • Thanks for commenting! Yes, I would have ended it differently, but that human touch to the story is what made it so compelling to me…too many horror films have uninteresting characters so it has no interest in what happens….thanks again for commenting!

  2. This is probably one of my favorites of the genre. Probably because of its father-daughter dynamic that just devastates me in an emotional way. In fact, it was my own daughter that brought this film to my attention. I’ll rewatch this month, after I take my allergy meds. Y’know, because they make my eyes water. 😉

    • HA! Yes, what makes this a classic thriller is because of that: emotional stakes with the characters…what happens to them matters because the film let’s us know them…so many movies just offer up cardboard characters with no emotional stakes at all! Thanks for the comment!

  3. Definitely the ‘best-ever’ zombie film, John. I own the DVD, and it’s a personal favourite!
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. This looks gruesome, John. I don’t think I could stomach it.
