#31DaysOfHalloween Begins With Three “Inside Your House” Horrors!

Lock Your Doors! Shocktober Is Here!

Here, let me help you through the door…NOT!

I love the month of October, also affectionately known as “Shocktober”, because I celebrate both “#31DaysOfHalloween” AND “#31DaysOfHorror”.

To get the month started, don’t both locking your doors, because the horror in these films are INSIDE THE HOUSE!

Yes, creepy celebrations will be ongoing all month long, so let me help you get started by focusing on three horror films that feature a house in their plot…starting with this sorority house filled with evil…

There’s Evil Inside The “Black Christmas” House!

Yep, I’d advise you to avoid the attic, if not the entire house – as this terrific shocker from 1974 was one of the first to use the very effective “point of view” tracking shot from a killer’s eyes..

The cast is outstanding: Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, Kier Dullea and John Saxon – you can click on my link here to see more about this great film, including the movie’s very effective trailer:

Next up, an Academy Award winning Actor enters an VERY evil house…

As the poster quite effectively asks:

“Did You Die In This House?”

Well, it’s up to Oscar-winning George C. Scott to find out!

The acclaimed Actor stars as a college Professor trying to come to grips with a personal tragedy – perhaps not the best idea to movie into THIS house:

A really great horror thriller once again grounded by a terrific performance by Scott…you can see the trailer, plus details on a terrific newly remastered special edition of the film, by clicking here:

Finally, one of the greatest horror films of all time was made for almost no money, and the entire film – after a short setup nearby – took place in a single house:

Well, with those sort of neighbors outside, I’d never leave the house either!

In 1968, Director George Romero unleashed a new era of horror with “Night Of The Living Dead”…as the last few survivors of this attack seek refuge inside a house – and the battle to survive is on!

Romero used Duane Jones as the lead in the film, a brave choice for the time – oh, and perhaps it wasn’t as safe inside as they wanted:

Oops, little Molly was hungry! All joking aside, this is one of the greatest horror films of all time, and you can see the trailer by clicking on my link here:

We are just getting started – I will be sharing great horror films all month!

    • “The Changeling” is REALLY good – a creepy film with a terrific lead performance, and it builds to a good climax…”Black Christmas” is a gritty little shocker and “Night Of The Living Dead” is a pop culture masterpiece…

  4. All great choices, John. And for once, I have seen them all! 🙂
