The “Banana Splits” Are Back – With A Bloody Axe! “Cult Movie Monday” Has “The Banana Splits” Horror Film!

The New “Banana Splits” Movie Is Here – For Halloween!

That’s right, this “Cult Movie Monday” gets you ready for Halloween season with the most horrific thing you could imagine – The Banana Splits Have gone mental!

Some quick history about “The Banana Splits”:

“The Banana Splits Adventure Hour” was a TV variety show for kids featuring the Banana Splits: a fictional rock band composed of four funny animal characters: Fleegle (guitar, vocals), Bingo (drums, vocals), Drooper (bass, vocals) and Snorky (keyboards, effects).

The series aired all over Saturday morning TV from the late 60’s to early 80’s…

“The Splits” Strike Back!

Now, the “Banana Splits” are back, but they aren’t in a playful mood!

Here is the trailer for the new “Banana Splits Movie”:

“The Banana Splits Movie” is a brand new horror comedy directed by Danishka Esterhazy, based on the original Hanna-Barbera children’s television series!

Here’s the plot: a family attends a live taping of The Banana Splits television series, but have to find a way to survive after the “Splits” go berserk when they learn their show has been cancelled!

The Banana Splits Movie premiered at San Diego’s iconic Comic-Con convention in July and was released on Blu-ray and DVD in August – and is now scheduled to air on the Syfy channel on October 12!

All I can say is “well done!” The film has gotten good reviews, so kids of all ages can see why the band has “an exe to grind!”

Films like this are made because of home video and cable / streaming services…keeping cult movies alive!

If you are in the mood for more horror, Netflix premiered this a few months back:

“The Perfection” is a twisted thriller that will keep you guessing – and has great performances as well…you can see the trailer here:

I will be highlighting the greatest horror films every “Cult Movie Monday” in October!

  3. Eegads. Sounds awful. I remember as a child on Saturday mornings watching H.R. Puff n Stuff and the Banana Splits.

  4. I have never heard of the Banana Splits. It sounds like a wacky and interesting idea for a horror movie. Thanks for this great share.

  5. Oh no! The Banana Splits turn bad! Surely not?
Might entice a new generation to watch the earlier series, you never know.
I really enjoyed The Perfection, watched on your recommendation! 🙂
