Time For Some Great “Silly Stories!”
I’m excited to board the Wednesday Bookmobile and share a great book from Gretchen Lehde Nixon – AKA Ginger O. Snap – a longtime friend from high school who wrote a hilarious book!
“Silly Shorts” is a collection of tales that capture the humor of everyday life.
Does your significant other sound Amish? Well, that subject gets a workout here, along with stories of mysteriously dug holes in the back yard, and other ways that we manage to love and infuriate each other in equal measure…
Gretchen began writing the book in 2008 when she was feeling down – as she writes in her intro:
“I knew I must have had one happy time in my lifetime. When I remembered that one time and wrote it down, I felt better.”
“Silly Shorts” is filled lots of great stories, both personal and professional.
Gretchen worked for Continental Airlines at one time, so a story is titled:
“The Really Big Piñata or Odd Things People Bring On Planes”
Yes, someone tried to bring a VERY LARGE drink onboard an aircraft. Here’s how Gretchen describes the massive drink that boarded her plane:
“The young brunette held it higher and said, ‘can you put this in the closet?’ The main body was the size of a round laundry basket and the bright yellow points on the miniature sun stuck out all over making it roughly the size of a washing machine.”
The Author also tells stories of “teaching” on a cruise ship – yes, the parents party and the kids go to school! And that meant some group “School” activities that resulted in a chapter called:
“The Blue Kid On The Cruise Ship”
You will want to read it to understand how a little food coloring that go very wrong when sailing the high seas.
Amazon has the book in paperback and as an ebook as well, so go there and support Gretchen by reading her terrific book!
Oh, and speaking of cruises:
I shared this before, but if you want to know just how wild life on a cruise ship can be, click here to see more about “Cruise Confidential”:
