There was an era in the 70’s when “disaster pictures” were the rage: huge blockbusters like “The Towering Inferno” with Steve McQueen and Paul Newman:

I missed this post the first time round, John. I really liked The Poseidon Adventure when I saw it at the cinema. Mind you, I was mainly attracted by Stella Stevens, as I was hot for her back then! 🙂
But I thought Shelly Winters did a great job of taking it all very seriously.
