Welcome To The Cabo Arch!
Cabo San Lucas is at the southern tip of Baja California, and it is home to the arch at Land’s End, a natural rock formation that was created by erosion – and it’s here that the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.
EVERYONE heads out to this iconic spot for a photo, and as I was on a sailboat with my daughter Jessica, we did it as well:
As Do The Seals And Sea Lions!
This spot is so popular that there is a rock that the local sea lions and seals have taken over to call their own as well:
After a day of sailing, we returned to find that the seals and sea lions are very aware of the fishing that goes on here – so they “tailgate” the boats as they return:
As we got closer to shore, I saw another fishing boat take on a “hitchhiker”:
I grabbed my phone and got a few pictures as well as this video:
After making several jumps up to grab the food, the seal in this case dropped off the boat and said goodbye:
This was just one of the great Cabo adventures, including catching the incredible sunsets:
We also saw a guy catch a fish from he beach – so much to do here, see more by clicking on this story:
Next up: our whale and dolphin encounters!

It is amazing – and I just posted this encounter with 8 Humpback Whales! – https://johnrieber.com/2018/12/14/incredible-humpback-whale-encounter-in-cabo-video-of-eight-whales-playing-next-to-our-boat/

Smart ones those seals are. Ha! I love the photos of the hitch hiking seal. And, what a beautiful spot they’ve chosen to rest at. The water is emerald green, their sunning rock is large (and I’m sure extremely warm), and there are tourists and fishermen available to give them a snack. The seals are living the life!

Thanks for the comment – yes, there is an obvious relationship between seal and fisher-people – which results in a fun show for everyone else nearby as well!

I wish he had just given it the fish! 🙂
Seems like a great spot, John. And nice to see the animals up so close.
But I was a little worried about how close they were to the boat’s propellers.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, my daughter told me that he fed the Seal right before he popped up for the ride – they are apparently experts at this and know exactly how to get fed – by putting on the “tailgating” show! Soon I have my “fish feeding frenzy” to share!
