“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” Is In “The Spider’s Web!” See The New Trailer Here! Claire Foy Is Lisbeth Salander!

“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” Is Back!

Lisbeth Salander, an empowered female from one of the greatest “nordic noir” thrillers of the past decade, has returned with her latest adventure, and it looks great!

Claire Foy Is Lisbeth Salander!

Claire Foy, who was so great in the TV series “The Crown”, stars as Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo who was played by Rooney Mara in the 2011 film of the same name.

Although the first three books of the “Dragon Tattoo” trilogy were made into terrific Swedish thrillers, the US version of the “Dragon Tattoo” film, also starring Daniel Craig, wasn’t as successful, so they skipped the next two books of the trilogy and have jumped to the fourth one. The book series was continued by David Lagercrantz after the trilogy’s Author, Stieg Larsson, died.

More good news about this latest adventure: the film is directed by Fede Alvarez, who made the surprise 2016 horror hit “Don’t Breathe.”

Foy captures the Lisbeth vibe just as Mara did in the 2011 film, and if you really want to see a great performance, watch the original trilogy from Sweden, starring Noomi Rapace…these three films will give you Lisbeth’s entire story.

Here is the trailer for “The Girl In The Spider’s Web”:

This film opens on Nov. 9th, and I hope it is as good as it looks. It’s all part of a great series of books called “nordic noir”:

This genre of books take place in Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland, and are dark, moody crime thriller written by such bestselling Authors as Larsson, Jo Nesbo and Jussi Adler-Olsen…here is a look at some of the best:

Let me know if you plan to see this!

  1. I’ve only watched the ‘originals’ but this one looks promising! Will also check out the Nordic Noir since I’m from Norway myself, haven’t dedicated enough time to any fiction from the homeland.

  2. I love the original Swedish trilogy of the film. What a switch from QE2 to Lisbeth!

  3. I haven’t seen The Crown, but know Claire Foy from the BBC series of ‘Little Dorrit’ and the marvellous ‘Wolf Hall’ too. I cannot recommend ‘Wolf Hall’ enough, if you can get to see it. One of the best serious historical dramas ever filmed. For me, nobody is EVER going to top Noomi Rapace in the original ‘Dragon’ films. She dominated the screen, with her outstanding performance. I actually watched the remake with Daniel Craig, and thought it was not only pointless, but unengaging and lifeless. I hope for better things this time, but I am not holding my breath. I would have loved to have seen it done by the Scandinavians again of course.
Someone needs to realise that ‘Nordic Noir’ doesn’t work with non Nordics!
(Sorry to be a grump two days running. Lloyd will be on my case. 🙂 )
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. I loved the novels. Re-read Dragon Tattoo when I was in England recently. I actually enjoyed the movie with Daniel Craig and thought it deserved bigger audiences. It will be interesting to see the interpretation of Spiders Web. I hope it might inveigle a few more bums on seats in the US because they are fantastic stories ….. 🕷 🐉

    • I plan to watch the original Swedish film trilogy again this summer and then read this book before the film opens…agree the US version needed more love, although David Fincher kept it perhaps TOO icy cold, but Mara was GREAT

      • It was Mara that made it for me …. so good that I was willing to forgive the overall effect which I agree was too damn cold. Interestingly the first films/books I discussed with my husband were Dragon Tattoo and The Iron Lady. Fortunately we broadly agreed on both and both for similar reasons. Good to find another fan of the books and les films suédois 🇸🇪

      • Yes indeed! Thanks for commenting as always!
