A Quincy Jones Intervention! The Legendary Music Producer Apologizes For His Wordvomit”!

A Quincy Jones Intervention!

Fallout from the wild wild interview that legendary Music Producer Quincy Jones gave to Vulture recently continues!

Q went to social media to apologize for his comments, and admit that his family stepped in to “counsel” him!

As The Daily Beast reports:

Quincy Jones has issued an apology for perhaps revealing too much about himself and his famous friends in a recent interview with Vulture. In a long note posted to his Twitter account Thursday, the legendary music producer explained that his six daughters—including actress Rashida Jones—took him aside for a “family intervention” after the interview was released to address some of the “silly things” he said. “I’m sorry & I’m not afraid to say it,” Jones wrote, adding, “it’s apparent that ‘wordvomit’ and bad-mouthing is inexcusable,” even at age 85. “I’m sorry to anyone whom my words offended & and I’m especially sorry to my friends who are still here with me & and to those who aren’t.”

Jones had given a wild interview to Vulture, filled with comments about the JFK assassination, dating Ivanka Trump, and Marlon Brando’s insatiable desire for sex. As Q said int he interview:

“He’d fuck anything. Anything!” Jones said of Brando. “He’d fuck a mailbox.”

You can read more highlights from the original interview here, including comments about Richard Pryor’s sexuality that his ex-wife confirmed, but his daughter adamantly denied:

  1. I was stunned by that interview and amused. But I also can understand how once somebody has passed their family may want to keep some things private. Brando and Pryor never came out in their lifetimes. Maybe if they’d lived longer they would have, maybe they don’t care if these things are said now but also maybe Quincy has become a little demented and some stuff wasn’t true. With that in mind I didn’t take it too seriously but I can see the other side and I’m not one who likes to upset others. Its a tough one. Sometimes you feel that old rumour about Babylon Hollywood and you’re like man let’s just get all this shit out in the open. There was a part of me, forgive me that liked the idea of Quincy at such an old age hooking up with Ivana. I mean if legendary jazz musicians can’t do this stuff who the hell can?

  2. The interview that keeps on giving but I must note that I am with both you and Beetleypete – you shouldn’t have to apologise for telling the truth. The whitewashing mentality of the western world is a huge part of our collective problem. So I say, all hail Big Q – keep keeping it real, fella.

  3. I thought that interview was great! No need to say sorry for telling the truth, Quincy!
    Best wishes, Pete.
