I was going through an old box, and look what I found! Todd Rundgren’s incredible 1990 tour to support his brilliant “Nearly Human” album!
What A Concert!
I was lucky enough to see this at the Wiltern theater in Los Angeles…a collection of Todd’s biggest hits AND new songs – what a collection!
Look at the songs being performed on this tour: new Todd, classic Todd and some great Utopia as well!
The concert kicks off with his classic “Real Man”, from the “Initiation” album…here is a great live version from that tour:
Another classic Todd song from the mid-80’s is part of the tour, “Something To Fall Back On”…here is Todd performing it live during the 1990 tour…
Todd Gets “Mated!”
You can see Todd’s wife Michelle singing backup on this classic Utopia song “Mated” from the tour:
That’s Michelle in the middle, of course…finally, here is one of Todd’s greatest songs from the album – and he is performing it live in Tokyo as part of this tour – “The Want Of A Nail:”
What an incredible show – so many of the songs can be found online, but you can also buy Todd online or from amazon as well – and you can get great merchandise from Todd’s store as well, so make sure to support him!
Another great way to support Todd is to see him live! Todd is still on tour in 2016, entertaining audiences around the world as part of Ringo’s All-Starr band – see some highlights here:
I’ve been a Todd fan since the beginning, but after seeing this show in Philadelphia from this tour I was completely hooked. This collection of songs and the concert show in my opinion was the best of his career. It’s always a daunting task to pick a favorite but for me this experience sealed the deal to follow Todd and his music.
Thanks for your note…this is the perfect show to hook new fans…while Todd’s musical adventures are not always for all fans, this shows what a consummate performer he is
I caught the Nearly Human tour at the Fillmore in San Francisco — what a terrific venue! Wow, Todd’s voice was as good as it’s ever been. It was a magical, head-spinning night.
Thanks for revisiting the occasion.
