It’s National Coffee Day! Here Are Your Caffeinated Health Benefits Of Coffee!

Celebrating Coffee’s. Incredible Health Benefits!

Time to have a sip of “National Coffee Day 2025!”

Yes, this is one of my favorite days of celebration – because who doesn’t love coffee? It’s not only the best way to wake up to a new day, but here are some great facts about the health benefits of the bean as well!

First, some delicious coffee facts:

Coffee is one of the world’s most consumed beverages, second only to water, with global revenues projected to reach $585 billion by 2025, according to batchcoffee.co.uk. It offers significant health benefits, such as a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, but excessive caffeine intake can cause anxiety, headaches, and increased heart rate. The United States consumes a large amount of coffee, with daily consumption reaching 66% of Americans and being prepared predominantly at home.

Here’s An Eye-Opening Medical Study On Coffee! Drink Up!

I have posted many stories about my love of coffee, and medical reports confirm what we have all known:

DRINK COFFEE AND LIVE FOREVER!

Seriously, this study shows just how great coffee is, from protecting your liver to helping to prevent Alzheimer’s!

I just read a terrific story on MEDIUM that focused on the research published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine last year – and the bottom line was terrific, as it supports drinking coffee – even LOTS of coffee:

The report “suggests a lower risk of death was associated with drinking more coffee, including among coffee drinkers who have eight or more cups per day.”

A 2017 review of 201 coffee studies and 17 clinical trials, published in The BMJ, found coffee was:

“associated with a lower risk of several cancers, including prostate, endometrial, skin and liver cancer, as well as type 2 diabetes, gallstones, and gout.”

Beyond that, the researchers discovered positive effects on brain health: Coffee consumption was linked to a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease.

This was no minor study: it tracked coffee consumption and mortality among 521,330 people across Europe. The researchers discovered the following:

“Higher coffee consumption was associated with a lower risk of death from any cause, and specifically for circulatory diseases, and digestive diseases,” said lead author Marc Gunter, a nutrition expert at the International Agency for Research on Cancer. “Drinking more coffee was [also] associated with a more favorable liver function profile and immune response,” Gunter says.“Importantly, these results were similar across all of the 10 European countries, with variable coffee drinking habits and customs.”

OK, I love that picture, but coffee came out smelling like roses on this study!

Veronica Setiawan, an associate professor of preventive medicine at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine says:

“Coffee contains a lot of antioxidants and phenolic compounds that play an important role in cancer prevention,” she says. “Although this study does not show causation or point to what chemicals in coffee may have this ‘elixir effect,’ it is clear that coffee can be incorporated into a healthy diet and lifestyle.”

So not only is coffee good for you, but you can drink as much as you want! That leads to my three favorite coffee experiences:

“Colorless” Coffee!

Yes, I “consumed: this product, which I found in a Tokyo vending machine…I can’t say I drank it because it’s coffee jello! You can click here to see more of my taste test – and other wild things I found in Tokyo’s vending machines:

And what about this unique coffee drink I had in Tokyo?

And finally, my friend Sabrina went to Southeast Asia and brought me back this special gift:

A Premium Weasel Product!

Yes, it’s coffee, harvested from the “droppings” of Weasels!

  1. Colorless coffee? That would take some getting used to. It seems like many of the things I like don’t usually provide health benefits, so I’m glad this one does.

I have a funny story I like to tease my wife about. We woke up to a broken Keurig one morning. I went to the gym and came back less than two hours later, only to find a new one (she had left again) on the counter with a used pod in it already. We’re professional coffee drinkers around here.

  2. We fully agree today! Love coffee, am aware of the health benefits and read ‘The Medium’ daily as you 🙂 ! Slight differences in how we ‘see things’ and I am quoting my current medical studies > three cups is supposedly the optimum – one can have too much; it is meant to be black with definitely no artificial sweeteners and as little sugar as you can tolerate; supposedly it has to be ‘real’ coffee – Nescafe won’t do; and, yes, the weasel coffee is the tastiest however horrid the production seems 🙂 !!! I can’t see a little ‘real’ milk making much of a difference.

  3. wow, weasel coffee?? and those vending machines and crazy weird.
I enjoyed your post and the research about coffee.
My only complaint or concern – is the way people ruin their coffee with the unhealthy coffee creamers and artificial gunk – those health benefits go to the wayside. And not saying everyone has to have black coffee, but the chemical creamers are a serious problem in our culture.
and I wonder what the coffee jello tasted like?

    • Thanks for reading and for your in-depth reply…I had to try the weasel coffee as it was a gift and it was good! As for the coffee jelly, it tasted exactly as you would expect: a fairly rich bold black coffee gelatinized! As for additives I agree: they are filled with chemicals and preservatives…I use only a small amount of whole milk as low fat milk leeches out the nutrients and can have additives as well…thanks again, great hearing from you!

  4. I’m in! I’m actually newish to coffee. I survived college and the early years of kids without it. I was a soda drinker. I still drink my share of sodas but definitely like coffee with my cream to start my day!!!

  5. I only drink coffee very occasionally now, since my previous quite heavy consumption began to affect my stomach. I had a nice coffee when we were out last Thursday, and as soon as I started drinking it I could ‘feel the buzz’!

    Best wishes, Pete.

  6. My favorite day to celebrate…..I truly cannot go without my Joe in the morning…..but I draw the line at coffee that comes from weasel’s ass….clear coffee? To make things worse my coffee maker crapped out this morning after only one cup….,chuq

    • Oh no! Nothing worse than a coffee maker not working! I tried the weasel coffee and it was good actually and the clear coffee was a gimmick that never caught on thankfully…I add just a bit of milk to my morning cup and it’s the best way to start the day – cheers!
