Heading Out On Safari! Our “Trip Of A Lifetime” Begins!

Our Safari Awaits!

I found the above image online: a stunning savannah in South Africa as a group goes on safari…something my wife Alex and I are doing – for the first time – as well!

I love this picture, again found online, that shows just how intimate an encounter can be with the wildlife on a safari – something we are eager to experience ourselves…as a result, I won’t be posting very much for the next few weeks – having been told the internet from these remote lodges is dicey at best – but I will try to share anything I can – perhaps something as magical as this:

Another phenomenal image from one of the most amazing parts of our planet…our trip begins in South Africa before heading to Botswana and then Zimbabwe…17 days of “never before experienced” adventures…we have wanted to do a safari for years, so much so that I shared this book I read:

I loved this guide’s inside look at his job as a safari guide…see more about this incredible book here:

Of course, there are “safari style” adventures everywhere, which is how Alex and I got to meet Stanley, the Wine Giraffe!

Meet Stanley – The Wine Giraffe!

That’s right! In the mountains above Malibu is a “Wine Safari” and it’s incredible!

You can meet Stanley and offer him a snack:

Of course, I don’t expect to be feeding any of the animals on safari, but it was certainly fun to offer up a snack to Stanley!

Click here to see our entire adventure!

Of course, there’s only one place I really want to go to meet friendly Giraffes:

Yes, a Hotel where the Giraffes join your for breakfast!

  1. I hope you’re having a wonderful time. Have you seen ‘Out of Africa’ with Robert Redford and Meryl Streep? A lioness comes quite close and Denys says to Karin “Don’t run, she’ll think you’re something good to eat.”

  11. Oh, wow, sounds like an amazing adventure ahead of you. 17 Days. Wow. A coworker a few years ago went on a safari and it really was life-changing for him. He came back with the best photos. Safe travels and can’t wait to hear about your trip!

  12. I did a 16-day Safari trip to Kenya and Tanzania in 1983, and it was great. Have a wonderful time, John, and watch out for the Hippos! (And you will have some great red wine in SA too, delicious Pinotage!)

    Best wishes, Pete. 🍷
