Music That’s “In My Dreams…” Classic Dreamy Hits From Stevie Nicks! Hall & Oates And CSN Too!

Stevie Nicks….In Her Dreams!

She is one of the world’s most Iconic Singer / Songwriters, and is perhaps the most well known Author of a song about “Dreams”.

My friend Clive has a terrific blog, where he shared lots of stories and lists about music, including a few about songs that feature “dreams” in some way…so of course Fleetwood Mac came to mind!

Thew lyrics are beautiful:

“Now here I go again
I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It’s only me who wants to wrap around your dreams
And have you any dreams you’d like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness

Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost
And what you had
Ooh, what you lost”

Here is a terrific live performance from the band when they were the best selling group in the world! It’s the song Stevei Nicks wrote about “Dreams”:

Nicks continues to make great music, like her album “In Your Dreams”, which also works with this list!

I included Fleetwood Mac in my list of songs with an “F” – check them all out here:

Here’s another song with “dreams”, thanks to Crosby, Stills & Nash, the world’s first “supergroup”:

David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash exploded onto the scene in the Woodstock era, then added Neil Young for a few albums as well…in 1977, the original trio stormed back to the top of the charts with this terrific album:

One song on the album is called “In My Dreams”, and showcases just how terrific their harmonies are:

“Turning
Turning
To see your face alone
I’m hoping there’s someone home

Dream
Do you dream?
Dreaming
Do you?

Dream
Do you dream?
Dreaming
Do you?

In my dreams
I can see, I can
I can see a love
That could be”

Here is the music video:

The trip followed up this massive success a few years later…or did they?

Yes, they had a massively successful followup – but one of the three almost didn’t make it! See that story, plus a look at the terrific songs included, here:

Finally, let’s up on an upvote – literally!

Daryl Hall and John Oates were the biggest-selling duo of the 80’s and this song is one very good reason for it:

“You Make My Dreams”

It’s an amazingly catchy pop gem – a song virtually everyone has heard somewhere at sometime:

“What I want, you’ve got and it might be hard to handle
But like a flame that burns the candle, the candle feeds the flame
Yeah, yeah, what I’ve got, full stock of thoughts and dreams that scatter
And you pull them all together, and how, I can’t explain

Oh, yeah, well, well, you (Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
You make my dreams come true
You (You, you, you, ooh-ooh-ooh, you)
Well, well, well, you (Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
Oh, yeah, you make my dreams come true
(You, you, you, ooh-ooh-ooh, you) Well, yeah”

Here’s the great music video – enjoy!

Sadly, the duo split acrimoniously last year, with no chance of getting together again…here’s a look at what happened to split this duo apart:

Of course, you need more “dreams” to listen to, so head over to Clive’s terrific website for some great songs and musical insight as well…here are the links!

  1. Stevie Nicks is hands down the best. May I add to dream songs, “All I have to do is dream” by the Everly Brothers? It’s good!

  4. Many thanks for linking to my posts, John, it is much appreciated.

I played Stevie Nicks a few years back when I first did a ‘dreams’ post, before the recent three post series.
CS&N are still on my list of future possibilities if I should return to this theme, along with a very good – and successful – cover of Stevie’s one.

But Hall & Oates have never really done it for me, sorry.

  6. We had to miss seeing Stevie and Billy Joel in Philly last year. My friend still gives me a hard time about that one. He’s a big Joel fan, but thought she was better. And I thought you summed up the situation with Hall and Oates well, but I still don’t understand their fight. With all their memories and albums they made over the years, they should be forever joined together. It’s just a sad situation.
