Frank Drebin Is Back!
That’s Lieutenant Drebin to you – from “Police Squad”…as the classic “Naked Gun” movie series is being relaunched with Liam Neeson!

For fans of the original trilogy of films from he 80’s this looks like the franchise is being treated well! The teaser trailer just dropped and it’s pretty funny!
Watch to the end for a REALLY funny bit that makes you say” wow, they WENT THERE!”

Pamela Anderson joins the fun as well, and all you need to know is that Drebin is a buffoon who still manages to solve the case…just as his Dad did:

Yep, Leeson is the son of Frank Drebin Sr., played flawlessly by Leslie Nielsen. Nielsen was a serious Actor his entire career until he was cast in the 1980 comedy “Airplane” – and became a comedy Icon!

A TV series was created called “Police Squad”, and even though it last only for 6 episodes, it has a huge cult following, and the character ended up in three hugely successful films…you can buy them, rent them, or easily stream them, and they are a blast!
This is a really entertaining TV series, worth checking out!
You can see a collection of funny moments from the series here:

The series was from the wacky minds behind the movie “Airplane” – one of the funniest films of all time…

I read the hilariously insightful story of how this comedic masterpiece came to be…and as for the title of the book:

It’s one of literally a hundred gags in the movie – the film just never lets up or slows down and it’s hilarious! You can see the film’s original trailer and read all about it here:
“Airplane” is one of cinema’s funniest films – and it holds up every time you watch – and then check out the team behind that movie’s FIRST film – this outrageous 70’s comedy:

Yes, the trio behind the franchise began as “The Kentucky Fried Theater”, a comedy sketch group whose first film was directed by John Landis, who directed this classic comedy:

After the success of the hilarious “Animal House”, Landis was hired to direct “Kentucky Fried Movie”, a collection of sketches that includes such brilliantly funny gems as:

And the flawless parody of Bruce Lee’s “Enter The Dragon” called:

I’m never sure about humorous films, John. I don’t always like them. This does sound funny …

Comedy is a very tough genre to nail…everyone has a different “sense” of it, and far too many films and TV shows take the easy way out with insult humor which gets very tiring very quickly…we will see about this – thanks for the comment!

I can’t imagine Liam in a comedy, yet I’m sure it will be wonderful. He’s such a great actor. I love the comedy movies!

It’s such a different take for him, but Leslie Nielsen had never done comedy before “Airplane!” and it made him a star!

Like Clive, I would have not considered a reboot necessary. But if they are going to do it, Neeson was a great choice!
Best wishes, Pete.

The trailer offers a bit of hope they don’t muck it up and Neeson is perfect because he’s NOT a comic actor!

I can’t help but think they should have left well alone. Hope I’m proved wrong.

I think the casting is crazy smart. I forgot about Nielsen being a serious actor. I hope it works with Neeson. The trailer looks good. My only issue is worrying about the quality of the writing. When deadpan humor is done well, it’s great. When not, for me it becomes childish and mind numbing! Overall though glad to see this reboot! Ha ha.

It looks, by this short tease, as if he is going to play it straight and be a doofus…hope so because that’s the only wya this comedy works! I like that he is going against his “tough guy” persona and having a laugh…let’s hope
