Ann Wilson’s Shocking News…
I grew up in Seattle, and while grunge rock in the 90’s was born in the Pacific Northwest, female-powered rock’n’roll was too…thanks to Ann and Nancy Wilson of the rock band Heart!
The band was in the midst of a worldwide tour when this shocking news was revealed…as Daily Beast rported:
“Ann Wilson, the 74-year-old lead singer of classic rock band Heart, has revealed the band is postponing its North American tour after she was diagnosed with cancer.”
“Wilson, whose powerful vocals can be heard on the band’s hits including “These Dreams,” said she is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.“
Wilson released this statement:
Here’s to a speedy recovery – for those who don’t know the band as well as I do, here she is performing their first smash hit “Crazy On You” from 1978 – listen to just how powerful her voice is:
The sisters wrote a memoir telling the fascinating story of how the band came together…see more here:
They also recently did a special “Songs & Stories” hour on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” – check this out as the sisters perform this iconic hit “Barracuda” for Kelly:
Kelly sang that song once as well on her award-winning TV show…see it here:
I always share their incredible music, and you can see where they landed in my “Music A – Z” list of songs in the key of “H!”

Hi John, I’m pretty sure I learned about Ann’s music from your blog. I hope her treatment is successful.

That’s so sad, John. Damn cancer! She’s doing the right thing with chemotherapy.

One of the most powerful voices in rock. I’m a huge fan of Heart. They were on the cutting edge with big female acts.

Good to hear that it was removed, and she is making plans for 2025. I was surprised to read that she is older than me, I always thought of her being younger.
Best wishes, Pete.
