Prince Rocks The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame!
I have to tell you, my wife and I have watched this video a hundred time. And once you see it, you will too!
On March 15, 2004, George Harrison was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As part of the ceremony, an all-star band performed “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” Harrison’s best-known Beatles song. The group featured Tom Petty and two other Heartbreakers, as well as Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, and Harrison’s son Dhani, who you see here behind Prince.
Marc Mann, a guitarist with Lynne’s band, played Eric Clapton’s memorable solo from the album version of the song, and again, Prince is just off in a corner, playing along but out of the spotlight.
But Prince, who essentially stood in the dark for most of the performance, burned the stage to the ground at the song’s end.
I can only say, after hearing both Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne of ELO sing beautifully, there is no way to prepare for the incredible 3 minutes you are about to see from Prince!
It happens halfway through the song, and it is simply magical….enjoy!
OH MY. At one point a security guard pushes Prince back onto the stage – while he is still playing – and at one point he slyly smiles at Petty as he tears into another solo…an absolutely stunning musical performance!
Of course, both Lynne and Petty were part of the supergroup The Traveling Wilbury’s, which also included Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison…they made incredible music and you can hear it here:
It was tragic to lose Harrison, Prince and also Petty a few years later…
A bunch of new material has been released since his death, recordings made years earlier but not released – and it is all gorgeous – here is one video and more about the music now being heard for the first time:
If you like legendary live perfomrnacees, one of the greatest all-time is thanks to Ann and Nancy Wilson and Heart:
They played Led Zeppelin’s legendary song “Stairway To Heaven” at an event for President Obama – and Led Zeppelin as well!
Click here to see more about that performance, and the cop – it will blow you away as well!

He certainly was, and I love that, for the first three minutes, he’s off to the side barely seen – so when he steps into the spotlight, wow!

OMG! That is amazing. It was great to see George’s son there as well and how much he was enjoying Prince’s performance.
