Lincoln Center’s Live Performance Art! The Théâtre de la Dame de Coeur’s “Acupunk” Unveiling!

Who Wants To See More Of These “Acupunks?”

Well, it’s a question that was answered when my wife Alex and I raced over to Lincoln Center on New York’s Upper west side after we noticed this was happening outside:

This is nothing new for the brilliant team at Lincoln Center: all year round, they put on free artistic performances like this on the plaza outside their Opera House – incredible!

Here’s how they describe this performance art:

“A poetic parade performance featuring Théâtre de la Dame de Coeur’s giant puppets, Eria and Terrenis, Acupunk takes place at Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza for three days only. Metaphorically exploring the theme of earth’s healing through acupuncture, the two puppet characters use long poles to untie knots and rebalance subterranean energetic currents—and everything that is influenced on its surface, just like traditional acupuncture. The puppets perform a healing ritual accompanied by rhythmic music, creating a meaningful bond with the public: the healing of our planet! Acupunk is an innovative and vibrant performance that incorporates projections, multimedia, and LED lighting—one which will impress audiences of all ages.”

They have an amazing team that allows you up close but keeps the path clear for more of the performance to play out like this:

We live with a view of Lincoln Center, and since May we have seen everything from free outdoor giant big screen Opera performances taking place live inside – and then there was this in the fall:

For those unaware, a “silent disco” is when you wear headsets and everyone hears the same songs, but it’s all in your head, listen to what I hear without the headsets:

It’s such a blast! Lincoln Center has an incredible Opera House as well – here’s a look inside:

We love this part of New York City you see, it’s just one long block away from this:

Central Park is the city’s free backyard…you can wander for hours and see everything from a real castle, to turtles feeding at the edge of the lake, and in the fall the spectacular changing of the colors:

I love this shot of Alex, walking down the promenade as a light rain fell…click here to see more of the fall colors!

It’s been a mild winter so far, with very little o this:

We got a nice blanket of snow a few weeks ago, so of course I headed out to capture it -see Central Park on a snowy day here:
