Do You Believe In Psychics?
Who hasn’t done a psychic reading to see if they had good or bad luck ahead of them…it’s a party game for many, a goofy bit of fun where you don’t really believe any of it, so what’s the harm?
Unless it becomes something much more serious for some – what makes people want to believe in what someone else sees for them?
Do You Have Bad Luck?
Well, perhaps you can see that in the crystal ball – or tarot cards….you see, Connor Ratliff sure did have a lifetime of bad luck, until….well, I can’t say more except to reiterate that I am a big fan of this Actor for reasons I will share in a moment, so when I heard about this new podcast starring Ratliff, I had to give it a listen!
Connor’s Fate Is “In The Cards!”
I have listened to several of the first season’s episodes so far, and it’s a fun and funny ride!
This 8-part series is from Next Chapter Podcasts, and its their first original scripted comedy series, “In The Cards”, now available to listen to as a podcast.
The official press release has a look at the cast, and it’s a really terrific group:
Breakout podcast star Connor Ratliff leads the ensemble, marking his return to audio on the heels of his wildly successful and multiple award-winning podcast series, Dead Eyes. Chukwudi Iwuji (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy), Tony Award nominee Steven Boyer (Hand to God, Kimberly Akimbo), Jamie Ann Romero (The Play That Goes Wrong) and Laila Robins (The Walking Dead) round out the principal cast. The series is written and directed by Kevin Henderson (Raising Hope, Avatar: The Way of Water).
Here’s how they describe the plot:
“In The Cards” is an 8-episode existential comedy romance that follows Gil Garson (Ratliff), a low-level ad man who strives to win at life. But ever-optimistic Gil has one very big problem: he is literally fated by the universe to always lose. Once he meets Nadya (Romero), the beautiful niece of a seductive psychic (Robins), he vows to change his fate.
That’s all you need to know…the characters are well developed, with strong voice acting and funny lines…the plot moves forward at a brisk pace, but there is time to savor each character as well…give it a listen and go along for a great ride as Connor decides it’s time to turn his bad luck to good….if that’s possible!
As the company behind the show said in a statement:
“Our incredible cast will have you in stitches as you listen to Kevin Henderson’s hilariously quirky story,” said Michael Goodfriend, Head of Scripted Fiction at Next Chapter Podcasts. “We couldn’t have dreamed of finding a better actor to lead this series than Connor Ratliff. As a proven podcast star who took on Tom Hanks in his own quest to change his fate, Connor literally brings a lifetime of experience to the role of Gil.”
Now, more about Connor:
Connor Has “Dead Eyes!”
As a young Actor, Connor got a role in the acclaimed HBO mini-series “Band Of Brother” – before being fired by Tom Hanks, who said that Connor had “dead eyes!”
Or did he?
You really must listen to all three seasons of this absolutely terrific podcast – with tons of great guest stars and of course, the ultimate guest to wrap season 3 – Tom himself!

There are a wide variety of podcasts that offer great information and entertainment…a new way to be entertained for sure….I do not listen to any “books on tape” because I’d rather read them, but podcasts offer unique original content which I like

I’ve seen quite a few of the shows Connor Ratliff has appeared in, but I must admit I knew very little about him. It was interesting to get a glimpse more and hear about this podcast (I’m always on the look out for something new to listen to). Thanks for the introduction!

I hadn’t heard of him, so looked him up. I discovered that I hadn’t seen any of the films listed in his bio, so thanks for the introduction, John.
Best wishes, Pete.
