As always, Clive has a terrific collection of songs, with interesting insight and perspective…this time, he covers songs with an “American” beat…
He leads off with a classic from Bruce Springsteen, still going strong today…my wife and I saw him do a special one man show on Broadway….untilhis wife joined him to sing as well:
Hi John, Loving your posts. Thank you. Was wondering if you had any interest in reading our play about Marlon. I don’t want you to share it with anyone, but if you find the time to read it, I would like to know if it is something you think would find an audience. I am debating approaching major theatrical production companies to see if they are interested in negotiating with the Brando executors to see if they can get permission or purchase life and publicity rights so the play can get on the boards. This is just a favor…I realize you may be too busy and may not have any special interest in theater, but I am looking for a third person, unrelated to my co-writer and me to see their reaction? If interested I will forward the play to your private email address.
Thank you for the note and for the offer, but I am currently in pre-production on a project and don’t feel it’s right for me to look at other creative works…best of luck to you!
Many thanks for linking to mine, John, much appreciated. I hadn’t seen your two previous posts before but they were both great. You’re so right about The Rising: even as a non-American it speaks volumes to me.
It was very powerful and, I would imagine, cathartic for so many Americans to listen to. As the guy he quotes in your post told him, he was needed by them, and he delivered.
You can't take the Scotland out of a girl... Reel entertainment reviews and more from that Darlin Husband’s Scottish, square-eyed and film-mad wife living in Finland.
Hi John, Bruce Springsteen is a huge talent. A great post.
