As a recent resident of Washington, I’ve only just begun to explore this incredible state. However, I’m already discovering some amazing and fascinating (and quirky and strange and…) roadside attractions. Here are some of those first discoveries:
Attractions on the Western Section of Highway 2:
As it sprawls its was through the mountains, over Stevens Pass to the coastal lands at its western edge, there are unexpected sights every now and then along Highway 2.
THE GIANT KNIGHT OF LEAVENWORTH:
Although the faux Bavarian hamlet of Leavenworth could/should be considered a major roadside attraction in itself and deserving of its own post, there is a sentinel watching over the roadway as you breeze along the 2, passing the touristy village. It’s a giant 25-foot tall medieval knight.
