Would You Camp Out Like This?
I will be sharing some really great hikes my wife Alex and I just did in the stunning Yosemite National Park, but we didn’t do this, which is mind-blowing to me:
“Cliffside Camping”!
It’s real and it’s wild wild wild!
I’ve been seeing an ad on TV that includes a shot of campers on the side of a cliff – and I wondered who actually does that kind of thing – and I found out it’s Sasha DiGiulian for one!
This amazing Athlete climbs up a mountain and pitches a tent!
Here’s an amazing video from Red Bull TV – as they said:
“Why bother finding a fancy hotel, when you can do it like pro climber Sasha DiGiulian, choose a thousand stars hotel and spend the night for free? A first-hand look of what it’s like to spend the night at 1,200 feet above the ground on the side of a massive cliff with exclusive footage by pro climber Sasha DiGiulian.”
Check this out!
Bravo to Sasha – this is wild wild stuff!
Talk about living your life on the edge!
This reminds me of what my wife, who I refer to as “Wonder Woman”, accomplished last spring:
That’s her in the top left pointing to Angel’s Landing, more than 1,500 feet high!
I made it most of the way, but she went all the way to the edge!
To see what she experienced at the top, and the very dangerous path to get there, click on my story here:
We did this hike just one day after we hiked in the Virgin River at the place called “The Narrows”:
Yes, miles of this hike and through the fast-moving river, and it leads you into canyons that are spectacular!
Click here to see our entire hike!
And we also did a climb that looked like this:
Yep, this hike went straight up the middle!

Although I haven’t fallen out of bed in decades, I can’t imagine ever trying this.

Who does this stuff?? Well, Sasha. And hats off to Alex for climbing to the top. I would be terrified… yet thrilled. Our National Parks are a treasure.

Would I do it? NO NEVER. Those folks are in some unknown category between fearless and crazy! You’ve been on some amazing hikes yourself recently that I also don’t think I could do. But they sure make for some great pictures and stories! 🙂

Hi John, I have no aspirations to sleep like this but it is interesting to see someone else do it. I will stick to the 5-star hotels [smile].

Indeed! My wife’s idea of “roughing it” is no room service after midnight! Hope you are all well there!

So far we are fine. My sister’s daughter and husband have Omicron so I am watching and waiting…

I’m not that scared of heights, but camping on the side of a cliff at 1200 feet is not on my agenda anytime soon, John. 🙂
(I might break the wine bottles getting down there!)
Best wishes, Pete.
