Trapped In A Ghost Town! The Wild True Story Of An Entrepreneur Quarantined In His Newly Bought Ghost Town!

The Only Living Human In A Ghost Town!

Meet Brent Underwood. He spent the pandemic living in a ghost town!

Underwood is a young entrepreneur who had the absolute WORST timing when he bought the abandoned California ghost town of Cerro Gordo in 2018 for $1.4 million. This town was once known for mining silver and lead, and between 1865 and 1938 was the largest producer of the two before its resources dried up.

As a news reports states:

In March 2020, when the coronavirus was still in its early stages, Underwood visited Cerro Gordo from his hometown of Austin, Texas, thinking of it as one week vacation and also to relieve the town’s on-site caretaker, who wanted to visit his wife as the coronavirus hit the U.S.

And he was stuck!

Luckily, Brent has a great sense of humor.

He shared this great video on YouTube:

I shared this story of Cerro Gordo when it was up for sale in 2018, right before Underwood bought it…you can click here for all of the town’s ghostly history:

Yes, I have a fascination with abandoned ghost towns in California, some of which have been turned into tourist attractions:

Calico is one such town: only a few miles off the busy I-15 interstate between California and Nevada, it’s a fun trip into the past…click here to see photos and video:

And many of the great Wild West towns are still very active, like Tombstone!

  2. I do enjoy a good ghost town–and find it amazing they haven’t all been Disney-fied. But I don’t think I’d like to live in one by myself (or, not exactly by myself–eek!).
