LA’s Best Sub? Here’s Giamela’s Massive Pastrami Sandwich To Make A Case!

Who’s Hungry?

Well, as this picture proves, I am!

One of the best things about getting past this pandemic is that we can begin to live a more normal life again, and that means eating at some unique places like Giamela’s!

Here in the Los Angeles area, there are several Giamela’s including this one in Burbank…Giamela’s has been serving Los Angeles with Italian submarine sandwiches, pizza, and pasta since 1964.

When my son told me about it, I had to stop in and get us a couple!

Of course, we were all masked up and socially distant as we waited patiently for the chance to order…the sandwich menu is simple:

$7 for a small, $9 for a large…and it was a “no brainer” of course – go big or go home!

It was a two person team the day I was there: freshly made buns being stuffed with the works: pickles, tomato, onions, peppers and lots and lots of pastrami…

Once I had my order, it was time to get it home and unwrap the massive sandwich, which literally explodes with toppings as you open it!

The pastrami is cooked perfectly, then dunked in some au jus before being put not he sandwich – followed by lots and lots of extras:

The flavor is intense, the toppings all fresh and the bread slightly crunchy n the outside and soft and chewy inside…I even got a second one with Tuna, which was also incredible:

A half sandwich will fill you up, so for under $10 you are getting TWO meals!

I plan to go back on a regular basis, as this is delicious!

It reminds me of another classic LA sandwich:

Philippe has been serving LA these incredible French dip sandwiches for more than a hundred years!

Now, if you were in New York, I ‘d say there is one place you would have to go for a great sandwich:

This Pastrami sandwich is so famous it was featured in a movie!
