Who’s Got #Wanderlust? I’ve Got #Wanderlust!
As 2021 moves hopefully forward toward complete vaccination – and a slow return to whatever our safe “new normal” will be, I still find myself heading to the beach – a safe haven for people to get fresh air…
A Malibu Sunset!
This short relaxing video is from March 1, 2021…a guy walking his dog along the beach while the sun sets behind him….a seventy degree day in paradise….
Welcome To Malibu!
A walk along the beach in Malibu is a peaceful getaway that literally drops you in the middle of an explosion of sea life – even a walk along the beach will reveal these Mussels, clinging to the rocks as the waves pummel them day and night:
And the waves DO pummel the beach at times – while the tide goin out is a gentle activity, coming in can be another matter!
But no matter: this beach is home to some of my favorite sea creatures, who entertain me while simply gong about their business right offshore – beginning with these guys:
Divebombing Pelicans!
I will admit I am mesmerized by Pelicans – the way they glide across the ocean before slowly rising up, then diveboming into the water for food – here’s an example:
Yes, I watch for them, and when they arrive, I hit record and hope to capture them in action.
Luckily, today they were hungry:
Cue The Dolphins!
Of course, every single time I’ve bene to the ocean I’ve encountered another string of visitors right off the coastline – Dolphins!
Finally, you can see Seals in the water as well – popping a head up to check out the action…and if all of this makes you hungry:
Easy: head a few miles north to the legendary Paradise Cove and dig into a Shrimp Cocktail – and top it off with a mixed drink that you drink using a real pasta straw!
My wife Alex and I explored Paradise Cove on her birthday, and if you want to see where The Beach Boys shot the cover for one of the early albums, click here!
People think of Malibu as a beach community, but did you know it had a Wine Safari as well?
Stanley The Giraffe is the star of this show, but there is so much more as well – click here to see more details about Malibu’s Wine Safari:
There are so many wonders along the west coast of North America…
A two hour flight south from here will take you to the magical Baja California town of Cabo San Lucas:
Just a few of the incredible images I captured on a trip there…but nothing compared to coming across a pod of migrating Whales…they were very playful and visible – take a look:

Honestly, I could watch them all day – of course the issue with wild life is that you can’t control when they come or how long they stay! We’ve been getting Dolphins every morning…will they pop up this morning as well? Waiting eagerly to see! Thanks for commenting!

You do have some lovely places to visit, John. The pelican videos are great, and I would love to see them in action. But I doubt I will be travelling anywhere outside of Britain for many years to come.
Best wishes, Pete.

Sadly Pete we are due to travel to Europe this summer and are hoping the world will open up by then! For now, this incredible beauty just 40 minutes from our house will have to do – stay safe!
