Have A Safe And Happy Thanksgiving! Make Some White Castle Slider Stuffing! Hang Out With Del Griffith Too!

Shaking Off 2020 The Julia Child Way!

What a year…for those who read me regularly, you know how much I LOVE exclamation points…but this year doesn’t deserve one…2020 has been the most unprecedented, challenging year for many – but there is hope ahead.

While it may be hard to find much to be thankful for…we try because that is who we are…and I am determined to have an upbeat day to show that there is much to be thankful for…especially family and friends, whether we can celebrate in person or by other, safer means this year…

Yes, I am making the White Castle Slider Stuffing again, and it will be delicious…whenever I post the recipe I get a fair number of “is this a joke?” queries, but it’s real and it is delicious:

Here is the recipe if you want to make a last-minute pivot and turn your 2020 around in one delicious bite:

We will also hang out with our favorite guy again this Thanksgiving:

“Planes, Trains & Automobiles” is funny and heartwarming, two things we need to end the year on, and he’d into 2021 with a positive outlook and a sense of togetherness, because that is how we will overcome the challenges that face us…

So I plan to shake off 2020 for at least two hours and have a laugh…here’s the trailer and more if you want to remember why this film is so wonderful:

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate – as rocky Balboa said in his first film:

“To you it’s Thanksgiving. To me it’s Thursday.”

Well then, celebrate Thursday and let’s make the rest of the year as great as we can!

  2. You brought a smile to my face. White Castle stuffing?? Nope, never heard of it. But I bet it was absolutely delicious. Thanksgiving was quiet for us this year – just the two of us, then joined my daughter and her husband, three kids, her in-laws, and two wild and crazy dogs out on their back porch in 48 degrees for dessert with masks on. Yeah, talk about crazy…. 🙂

    • Right?!?!? What a strange “upside down” world we are living in, but we will get through it by next summer – we will all carry our “covid cards” showing we were vaccinated, and we’ll make some other changes to keep it from coming back with a vengeance – and next Thanksgiving we’ll be back to our normal world! Oh, and that recipe works and the stuffing is delicious, I promise!

  3. Since it’s just the two of us, we had Thanksgiving dinner delivered by the chef of NBA and NHL teams, who is cooking and delivering locally. OMG, what a dinner! White Castle stuffing will have to be on the Christmas dinner menu. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, John. And, who doesn’t love these movies?!

  6. What an inspiring and positive post, John. It’s been such a rough year and I don’t think any of us could have ever anticipated anything quite like this happening. But there’s always something to be grateful for, sometimes we just have to look harder to see what those things are. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! x

    • All of us face challenges that are unique to us, and then a year like this forces us all to face the same ones as well…I’m glad you are staying safe and here’s to a 2021 that has lots of sunshine and just the amount of cloudy days and rain that we need!
