It’s that time of year again, where much needed attention is called to the fact that censorship is very much alive and well. I have a crazy week ahead of me, so I won’t be spending as much time up on my soapbox as I have in previous years regarding this, but check out this list of the top ten most frequently banned and challenged books of 2019.

  5. it is just so mind-blowing. a couple of years ago, i took my oldest grandson to the classic detroit library, very old school and beautiful. they had shelves dedicated to all of the books banned over the years. he is a huge reader and could not believe it when i explained that this is real thing.

  6. Interesting – I’ve never heard of Banned Books Week before. That being said, I took a course about censorship in college and really enjoyed it. We read through books that had been banned for a number of reasons, discussing why that decision was made and whether or not we support that level of censorship. I’m really interested in digging into this and trying something new!
