The Courage Map: 13 Principles To Living Boldly!
Every week I review books, as I am a passionate fan of reading. Recently, I received this book from the Publisher, asking if I wanted to review it.
I am sometimes wary of so-called “self help” books, unless they truly offer empowering AND PROACTIVE advice and guidance that can help a person be their best self.
For this “Wednesday Bookmobile”, I am following “The Courage Map” thanks to a terrific Writer and Guide Franziska Iseli…
Entrepreneur and Adventurer Iseli believes that anyone can learn to unlock their inner courage and live an extraordinary life.
As her bio notes:
“Iseli decided to write a book about courage while on a multi-year motorbike journey around the world. All of that “helmet time” allowed her to ponder what so many people ask her about her businesses and daring international adventures.”
This is why I was hooked – Iseli believes in many of the same things I do – a passion for travel, a love of our planet, and a willingness to push ourselves just a bit out of our comfort zone.
As she writes in her introduction in the book:
“Best of all, courage is a skill that anyone can learn. This book will show you how to make courage your superpower no matter where you’re at, and regardless of how the past has shaped your life.
In early 2018 I had the “best worst idea”: to ride a motorbike from Switzerland, my home country, along the Silk Road and into Asia. I wanted to follow the steps of explorer Marco Polo, an Italian merchant and writer famous for his travels in the thirteenth century.”
That sounds exactly like the kind of thing I would do, so I understood her curiosity and passion.
She goes on to add:
“Courage is one of the most powerful forces you can use to shape your life. It allows you to stay true to yourself, lead by example, make a positive impact, and live without regrets. Courage is the underlying force that allows you to make small and big changes, both personally and professionally.”

I love this way of thinking.
This is Iseli’s third book, and she shares her 13 principles for living a life of courage and breaking through any barriers or obstacles life throws your way.
Chapters focus on various aspects of courage and what it means to each of us – here are two examples:
The difference between being courageous and being fearless or reckless (and how to distinguish an impostor from the real deal)
How to expand your Courage Boundaries step-by-step so you can systematically grow your ability to take on new challenges and adventures in life
Create Your Own “Courage Map!”
The book helps you design your own “Courage Map” – a focused roadmap to making the changes the book proposes. I also enjoy that the book isn’t “challenging” you to do something – it’s just offering a different way to think about what you want in life.
As she says, this book gives you guidance:
“for living boldly, going after your wildest dreams, and leaving your mark on the world.
A map is a drawing or representation of an area with a view from above. Your Courage Map is your very own drawing and view from above that will help you to think and act in ways that will expand your courage boundaries. ”
A terrific terrific guide to thinking about life differently, and using your own inner courage to take on things you may not think you can accomplish.

As someone who would not ride a motorbike along the Silk Road, I admire her courage and fortitude. Shame about the ‘Foreword by Richard Branson’ though. That guy is a complete knob!
Best wishes, Pete.
