How Would You Like To Hike THIS?
As you know, I love to travel and experience new cultures. I also love to see cool stuff like this – the world’s longest pedestrian bridge!
When you hear about “hiking the Swiss Alps”, this might not be what you imagine.
The longest pedestrian bridge of its kind IN THE WORLD just opened in Switzerland, running 1,621 ft. long – almost 1/3rd of a mile, crossing over a valley between the towns of Zermatt and Grächen.
The company Swissrope designed the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge to be higher (and therefore longer) than its predecessor. At its highest point, the bridge is 279 ft. above the ground – 30 stories!
Oh, one thing to know – this is how wide it is:
26 Inches!
Yep, it’s only two feet across, so plan accordingly! Still, I’d do it in a heartbeat – what incredible views!
Absolutely stunning! What a cool life experience this would be!
It reminds me of another bridge I shared with you – you remember, the one is China that is ALL GLASS?
How cool is that? Oh, and remember when they revealed that is was CRACKING?!?!?

Oh wow! This is something I’d absolutely love to do. I’d have to go on my own though as I think this is my partner’s worst nightmare!

What an incredible view! Not sure my stomach could handle it though. The problem is, with it being so narrow, if there’s a queue behind you and you get 1/4 of the way there, you ain’t gonna be able to turn back..! x

I would LOVE this. I am always keen on suspension bridges and the views look great. I wonder how much you have to pay to go on it!?

Interesting question, I saw nothing in the report suggesting it cost anything! Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for commenting! I’d do it, but someone did ask if it swayed, and I think it HAS to a bit, right?

I agree – first of all, incredible surroundings, and its made by the Swiss, so I think it will hold!

The bridge in Swizerland looks very cool. I’m not as keen on a glass bridge.

I’d do both, but understand that their past record doesn’t indicate they are as focused on safety as the Swiss! Thanks for commenting, Robbie!

I’d do it – but my husband wouldn’t. He’d have to go the long way round!

I’d be up for it but understand how some may not like it at all!

I’m up for that bridge anytime! The only issue I would have is how to get back across. Everyone seems to be walking the same way! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes! How much fun it would be! That said, I also shared the story of the glass bridge in China that cracked, so I guess NOTHING is foolproof! Thanks as always for commenting!
