I wholeheartedly support the action being taken by young people today to demand changes in the way we all live – so that future generations are spared the catastrophic result of climate change inaction…
I’m sure many of you know about the youth climate strike that took place in over 163 countries around the world last Friday. Inspired by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, the Global Climate Strikes may turn out to be the largest mass protest for action on climate change in history. Greta was also a speaker at the first Climate Action Summit at the United Nations this morning. What she had to say took less than 5 minutes, yet her words were so incredibly powerful. I implore you, if you haven’t already, please listen to what someone from the next generation has to say regarding the horrifying legacy we are leaving them.

I think Greta is a real inspiration and to know that there are people out there like her brings me some sort of hope. I can’t believe all the negativity that she’s getting though – the world seems very divided at the moment and it’s worrying how many people just don’t get teh gravity of the situation. Hopefully something will come of the lawsuit she’s initiated!

And a horrible comment on Fox News yesterday calling her “mentally ill” – we live in a time when venomous comments and attacks are considered normal…sad

I only heard a sound bite from this speech on the radio news. Thank you for sharing a longer chunk in this blog post! Hurrah that more and more human beings who are waking up to the magnitude of this challenge. Now each of us needs to pull the emergency brake on our own fossil-fuel-driven habits of consumption… which i know is much easier said than done.

But if everyone cut back by 1% the impact would be enormous…it just takes people understanding how so many small steps make a big impact…thanks for commenting!

She and the others are refusing to accept “inaction”…because they have to live with the results of it!

Remarkable young lady. And she did what I want to do…glared at Trump as he walked by her. Okay, I lied…I would do more than just glare but good for her!!
