Murder In The Vines! Wednesday’s Bookmobile Heads To Provence To Solve Some Crime!

Touring France and Provence

Welcome To Provence!

Alex and I have visited the provencal region of France and cooked the local food and drank the local wine…

Touring France and Provence

Such an incredible place to visit – and so idyllic, nothing bad could ever happen here…right?

Well, on this “Wednesday Bookmobile”, we head to Provence where Author M.L. Longworth begs to differ!

Tasty Provencal Murder Mysteries!

Author M.L. Longworth has written for The Washington Post, The Times (London), The Independent, and Bon Appétit magazine. She is also author of a best-selling mystery series set in Southern France, the Provençal Mysteries!

There are seven so far, and another on the way! It all began here:

Death At The Chateau Bremont

Here’s how the book is described on Amazon:

The first installment in the beloved, sumptuous mystery series set in Provence, featuring chief magistrate Antoine Verlaque and his old flame Marine Bonnet, who must team up to solve a pair of murders!

When local nobleman Étienne de Bremont falls to his death from the family château, it sets the historic town of Aix-en-Provence abuzz with rumors. Antoine Verlaque, the charming chief magistrate of Aix, suspects foul play, and when he discovers that Bremont had been a close friend of Marine Bonnet, his on-again off-again girlfriend, Verlaque must turn to her for help.

I am having a blast with this – great writing, a real love for the area, and a good story!

My Mom has already read the additional six books in the series – so if it’s got the “Mom Seal Of Approval” then I’m on board! The next books in the series have been released in this order:

Murder In The Rue Dumas

Death In The Vines

Murder In The Ile Sordou

The Mystery Of The Lost Cezanne

The Curse Of La Fontaine

The Secrets Of The Bastide Blanche

There you go, lots of great Provencal mysteries to keep you busy! And, if you notice a similarity to a previous “Wednesday Bookmobile” post, there’s a reason:

Yes, I previously shared a series of mysteries centered on Bruno, the Chief of Police in the south of France who can’t get away from crime! You can see that terrific series here:

Let me know if you’ve read any of these Provencal Mysteries!

  4. I have not read these, John, but they sound most entertaining. I love books about Provence and food. I read all the Peter Mayle books about Provence when I was in my twenties. He died recently and I thought I should re-read them.

  5. I haven’t read any of these yet, John. But it seems to me that they are ripe for a TV series adaptation.
    (Pun not intended…)
    Best wishes, Pete.
