A bit of Tuesday morning “wanderlust”…
Welcome To Thailand’s Maeklong Railway Market!
I have only been to Thailand once, but I need to go back – just to shop here!
It’s a great seafood and vegetable market located about an hour outside of Bangkok, known as the Maeklong Railway Market, because – well, it blocks the way to a railroad!
That’s right, one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand sits right ON TOP of the Maeklong Railway tracks!
So how does that work? Well, merchants cover the tracks with their fish and vegetables, and people shop until a train approaches, then the fish, vegetables, awnings and shop fronts are moved quickly back from the rails so the trains can pass!

John that is mad!! Quick train coming, move the veg.. wow.. or quick train coming, kid get off the tracks.. I’m guessing though that it moves very slowly so the driver has time to stop if he needs to…I hope so anyway.
