Time To Head To The Beach!
Talk about a beautiful stroll along the beach! I love the water, and the ocean waves as well…even when they get a bit “feisty” like this:
My wife Alex and I rent a beach house in Malibu each summer – and we love to spend the day walking down the private beach:
As you can see, the beach houses hug the shore, and at low tide you see a lot of friends stopping by to visit:
From our deck, you can see a full expanse of ocean, and people walk their dogs, boogie board, or take to the water this way as well – and no, that’s not me!
Cue The High Tide!
Once the high tide starts coming in, the energy of the ocean changes noticeably…no water boarding now:
The beach house we were in has steps that go right to the beach, so when high tide rolls in, it comes right to the house:
Watch Where You Sit!
I wanted to capture the power of the ocean, especially when the tide was at its highest, so I perched myself on the top step and pointed down to the bottom of the steps – and this happened:
Well, that was fun! If you haven’t touched the pacific ocean, it is COLD – but it was sunny out, so I dried off and relaxed…and then Alex decided to celebrate the hit song “cake by the ocean” this way –
“Avocado Toast By The Ocean!”
I love the ocean, and the powerful waves crashing against the houses just reminded me of the power – and beauty – of nature:
The other amazing thing about nature? Sunsets, and I’m not sure there is one more beautiful than over Malibu as well:
Here is a look at some of the incredible images I captured when we celebrated at sunset in Malibu:

Of course, Malibu is home to many Hollywood celebrities, and a place where some iconic films were made as well:
Yes, “From Here To Eternity” was filmed nearby – one of several classic films that used water in their storylines…see them here:
Let me know if you’ve been to Malibu and seen the incredible waves!

I was at the beach yesterday and actually got in the water (Atlantic ocean). It is a total sense experience with the smell and of course the sound of waves crashing on beach.

What a great memory in a capsule, John. This will make all the winter warm. I love the high tide on California coast. We’re close to Huntington, Newport, and Laguna beaches. We went to Laguna Beach once when the tide was 10 feet high and watched the enthusiastic surfers having a blast!

That is a great freeze image of the water on the steps. I wish I could do that. I grew up on the beach in the southeast. I love everything about it. I’ve never been out that way, though. Looks gorgeous.
