RIP Roger Moore! 007’s Most Charming James Bond Was A True Class Act!

007’s Classiest – And Longest Running Bond Has Died!

Sad news to report: Roger Moore, the third Actor to play James Bond 007 in the legendary action series, has died at the age of 89.

Moore achieved stardom as Simon Templar in classic action TV series “The Saint” from 1962-69.

Moore Was 007 Seven Times!

Moore took over the role of Bond from Sean Connery in the 1973 film “Live and Let Die”. He holds the record as the longest serving Bond to date, playing 007 in seven films: “The Man with the Golden Gun” was next in 1974, followed by “The Spy Who Loved Me” in 1977…

These were some of the most popular Bond films of all time: “Moonraker” in 1979 was next, then “For Your Eyes Only” in 1981, “Octopussy” in 1983, and finally “A View to a Kill” in 1985.

Moore wrote a humorous and insightful autobiography, and was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991. Moore was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for “services to charity”.

Many fans grew up with Moore as their 007 – and there’s a great documentary that looks at all of the Bonds…

  2. Rest in Peace good sir. Thanks for the post John. I’ll add a factoid here to my comment here, Moore served in the British Army during a period of national conscription. Just after World War II he was an officer in the Service Corps and was posted to Germany during the tense early period of the Cold War. He left the service having reached the rank of Captain. He was Knighted for his numerous charity work.

  3. Lots of Moore tributes popping up. Maybe not a great actor, but he played some enjoyable parts indeed.
    Best wishes, Pete.
