Meet Your Japanese Hostess!
Yes, it’s Alex Sim-Wise, who’s not Japanese but IS dressed to perform the traditional duties of a Japanese Hostess…
As you can see, she may not have enjoyed it much, but if you want to know exactly what a Japanese Hostess is supposed to do, this is the place for you!
Welcome Back To Tokyo!
I had the good fortune of filming for a week in Tokyo with a crack G4 production team, who are all included here:
Our Host was Alex Sim-Wise – and our job was to capture the wild and crazy nightlife of Tokyo, including these amazing bars in the Golden Gai area near Kabuki-Cho!
These narrow alleys house hundred of bars, each seating a dozen people at most! Here’s a video of us wandering the area:
It’s an amazing place to visit…and tourists are allowed in – not always with open arms, but allowed in at least…SOME areas of Tokyo are NOT for foreigners…
Time To Visit A Businessman’s Bar!
In some of Tokyo’s most vibrant neighborhoods are clubs open ONLY to local Businessmen…and so we sent Alex Sim-Wise in to see what goes on behind closed doors….
Well, what she learned is that the “Hostesses” serve drinks, light cigarettes, order snacks as requested and make small talk with the Businessmen, who pay hundreds of dollars for the privilege…and why am I telling you this?
“RocketNews24” Of Course!
The Reporters at “RocketNews24” recently posted a hilarious story about the “five lies you are likely to hear in a Hostess bar!”
“RocketNews24” published this page from what is supposed to be a “Hostess Manual”, with some great ideas of how to treat a customer:
“You look just like [insert name of popular celebrity]” or “You look like the guy I used to have a crush on” are also suggested ways to instantly put a guy in a good mood. But where things get especially crafty are the manual’s positive repackagings of specific traits, which end up as:
“You’re so manly and cool!”
“Wow, you sure are smart!”
“You’re so cute, like Winnie the Pooh!”
“You’re really toned!”
“You’re so mature!”
If you want to know what goes on inside these clubs, and get more of the inside scoop, check out the entire RocketNews24 article here:
RocketNews24 always has terrific material about life in Japan…where I have filmed several times and love!
Yes, we took lots of goofy photos while filming, and Sim-Wise did a great job putting up with all of the wackiness – like this for example:
When we filmed in the “Businessman’s District”, we got a couple of young guys to film with us, which led to this strange piggyback ride:
I found the entire experience of filming in Tokyo’s entertainment districts to be unique and fascinating, even if I wasn’t allowed in!
And if course, you also want to se more of Sim-Wise’s adventures as well!
