Hello, Sydney!
Welcome to one of the most beautiful sights in the world! It’s Sydney, Australia of course, and the gorgeous Opera House – one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, along with Sydney’s iconic Harbor Bridge…a million different ways to film it and I tried them all….
The city offered a million gorgeous views, and thanks to an opportunity I had to film in Australia, I managed to capture some of Sydney’s iconic images!
Sasha Grey Explores Australia!
Like I said, I took a lot of pictures, and usually force my co-workers to take them as well…Sasha Grey hosted a show that we filmed in Australia, so we got the chance to check out many of Sydney’s most beautiful locations like the Opera house…
You can walk along the water in Sydney – a huge park that leads right to the Opera house – and you find numerous opportunities to film these two iconic images – the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge – in what is a beautiful, and very relaxed city…
One regret is that we didn’t get the chance to tackle one of Sydney’s most exciting tourist attractions: what you see below are people on Harbor bridge – you can actually climb the outside of the bridge to the top, which would certainly offer a unique view…
Aboriginal Music!
We passed a native Aborginal, playing a didgeridoo, a beautiful, haunting sound that is impossible to replicate, although I did buy one and have it shipped home…it showed up safe and sound…and still unplayed…
Sasha Swims With Sharks!
The purpose of our time in Sydney was to showcase some of the more exciting things you can do in the city, and so Sasha agreed to film a sequence that involved her learning to scuba…
We filmed the hour of instruction she got, getting familiar with the equipment before shooting one of the coolest things I’d ever filmed…and in the picture above you can check out that underwater camera that goes into the tank with them!
Manta Ray!
After being prepped, Sasha went into the huge tank, along with one cameraman and instructor, and the rest of us made our way into the underwater viewing area, shadowed by a very big manta ray above us!
Here is where it gets really cool: Sasha and her Instructor WALK through the underwater coral reef…while we can watch them through the glass, they slowly make their way through the water, but they are not alone…
Shark Alert!
That’s right, they are in the water with sharks! And these aren’t little baby sharks, either: Sasha was in the water with real live, full grown sharks, with nothing separating her from them, no protection other than a very calm and experienced Instructor leading the way…
Sharks Everywhere!
You might think this is behind glass, but it wasn’t, and at one point Sasha actually had a shark flip his tail at her head…but she remained calm and didn’t react at all, which is what she had been trained to do, and very bravely filmed a terrific sequence!
Great job as always by Sasha, willing to take on any challenge – and we had a great shooting experience in Sydney while we were there…
Sydney’s Bugs! – Welcome To Sydney’s Fish Market
Back on dry land, I headed to Sydney’s fish market to see what type of unique fish they had for sale…and I wasn’t disappointed!
Sydney’s fish market is one of the largest in the world, with a nice commercial area to eat and shop, and to explore some of Australia’s most unique species…
Moreton Bay Bugs!
Have a bug! That’s right, this is a unique species to Australia – a “bug”, kind of a shrimp’s body stuck on a smashed Lobster’s head…and it takes like it! Delicious!
As you can see by the sign, they aren’t cheap… although since these prices are in Australian dollars it actually might not be that much…can’t remember the exchange rate…
Beautiful Sydney!
The entire team had a great trip to Australia – the weather was gorgeous, the people were amazingly friendly, and the food was great! Thanks to everyone in Sydney who helped us have such a great time and get such great stories…more to come!
