Surprise, Alex Sim-Wise is ready to cosplay in Tokyo! If you’ve read any of my other posts about my Tokyo adventures, you know that Alex Sim-Wise loves to explore different cultures, and always with a sense of humor!
Alex Sim-Wise Takes On Tokyo!
A great production team filmed for a week in Tokyo, including Kristen Wheeler, Corrado Caretto, Vinny Rutherford and our Tokyo Producer Nick Uemura – through the eyes of London Correspondent Alex Sim-Wise!
I have already posted some of Alex’s adventures in Tokyo…including our fun visit to some of Tokyo’s smallest bars in Golden Gai…
Since it was Alex’s first trip to Tokyo, we tried to film as many adventures as we could in four days…which meant a lot of running around, a ton of wardrobe changes, and a multitude of locations…luckily Kristen got us a van and that allowed us to get around what is a very crowded city…
Tokyo is another world in so many ways, and Alex has a great sense of wonder, so we wanted her to explore this unique area of the world through her filter – which she was excited to do, and she introduced us to a good friend of hers as well, Rachel Irving…
Alex and Rachel Getting Ready To Film
Rachel came out with us on a number of our shoots, also ready to explore the exciting world of Tokyo at night. We shot in a number of locations – as I said, I previously posted Alex’s adventures in Tokyo’s mini-bar district, Golden Gai…
Hostess With The Mostess!
Tonight was a unique story: Alex was going to be a “Hostess” in a businessman’s club – these clubs are everywhere in the Kabuki-cho district of Shinjuku…the clubs cater to japanese businessmen, who go there after work with collegues and business contacts.
Alex trained to be a club “Hostess”, which meant she poured them drinks, lit their cigarettes, and chatted with the customers – a friendly face…note that these clubs are very popular and very expensive…a table for four friends with a Hostess serving you can be a thousand dollars and up…
Of course, we all took a ton of pictures throughout the night as well…whcih Alex and Rachel perused between shoots….and then it was off to Kabuki-Cho once again!
Alex filmed on the streets of Kabuki-Cho, which is the party district in Shinjuku, one of Tokyo’s livelier neighborhoods….these guys stand out front and entice people to come into their bars for drinks..
Corrado and Vinny oversaw the entire shoot, and I was in charge of taking lots of pictures of everyone…
As I said, I was lucky enough to work with a terrific team: here are Vinny and Corrado with Alex, and Kristen Wheeler was our expert Production Manager – and of course we had our great Tokyo Producer Nick with us as well!
After filming all night, we started to get punchy…we did, Alex just got a piggyback ride from one of our interview subjects and everything was fine…
I tried to take self-portraits and ended up getting everything slightly blurry…
Bring On The Hair!
Once the formal shooting was done, Alex and Rachel decided to do something about their appearance…
Did I mention that Alex and Rachel embraced every aspect of Tokyo’s culture? Especially the one that involved cosplay?
My favorite color were the blue wigs…and they put these on for their night off – we weren’t even filming!
Blue Hair Twins!
Like I said, Rachel and Alex embraced Tokyo!
These colorful outfits weren’t for a shoot, they were just for heading out and exploring the various street life and clubs that are everywhere in Tokyo, embracing all the crazy fun that Tokyo offers up…
