So much “breaking bacon” news coming out around the world…
My most recent Counter burger looks deceptively simple: yes, the crispy bacon atop a melted provolone-covered patty…but hidden underneath are black olives and crisp dill pickle slices, and sitting patiently off-camera is my favorite chipotle mayonaise.
This Counter burger with a fried egg on top is a close second…and then of course, there is this:
A Two-Headed Burger!
Thanks to a fun post about unique sandwiches around the world – on Eater.com – I found this: The Belgian/French fast food chain Quick offers their Le Double Mix burger. Like some sort of burger out of Greek mythology, it’s two burgers in one!
One side of the burger has a sauce au poivre and the other has a brie sauce. Helpfully, the two halves of the bun are also different so you can tell the sides apart. The goal, of course, is for the “greatest pleasure of your tastebuds.”
There’s also a chicken version of the Double Mix that comes with a sweet curry sauce on one side and a spicy one on the other.
Speaking of two headed burgers, how about this?
THE BACON KEVIN BACON HEAD!
Nothing to add – sometimes things just are what they are. To quote the classic film: “forget about it Jake. It’s Chinatown.”
POTATO SKIN SANDWICH!
The next time you are in the Big Apple, stop by Cer Te in Midtown Manhattan for their “Mr. Potato Skin” sandwich that uses potato skins for bread.
Midtown Lunch has the details: It’s a “Chicken cutlet w/ bbq sauce sandwiched between two baked sea salt and vinegar potato skins stuffed with aged cheddar and apple wood smoked bacon.”
A BACON SUNDAE UPDATE!
And check out this terrific website: http://www.grubgrade.com – Grubgrade taste-tested the new Burger King Bacon Sundae…head to the site for the full review, but a teaser: they post pictures of the whole thing and said it worked!
BK SWAMPS JAPAN WITH BACON!
Burger King in Japan is giving customers the chance to add FIFTEEN STRIPS OF BACON to any sandwich – nice! And an important note: it’s not limited to 15 strips, that is just the number you can get for each additional payment – as for how much bacon you want, the Japanese sky’s the limit!
Japanator.com had this funny picture, and a small writeup on it if you want more details on this bacon frenzy gripping Japan…
BACON POTATO PIE!
I found this online: a McDonald’s “Bacon-Potato Pie” from Japan? I found a review from two years ago on the website “Japanator.com”, which wasn’t too flattering, but then the picture included words that seemed to sum up his “love/hate” relationship with it:
FOIE GRAS BURGER!
Wendy’s is offering the Japanese a chance to have a slice of foie gras added to their burger…sounds good to me…
SAY YOU LOVE SOMEONE WITH A CHEESEBURGER!
The Quick chain in France will let you say “amore” with a burger shaped like a heart…
THE BEACON WREATH!
Check this website out: http://www.instructables.com/id/Bacon-Egg-and-Cheese-Wreath/
A simple, delicious and quick breakfast dish. Great for lazy Sunday mornings or afternoons.
Ingredients:
1 can of croissants (8 count)
6 Large Eggs
A crap ton of shredded cheese. You can use whatever kinda of cheese you want. I used a 2 year old cheddar.
Final and most important ingredient: Bacon, bacon, and more bacon. You can’t put a limit on bacon. Cook it first, then add it to the recipe above, bake and enjoy!!!
YOUR BACON WAKE-UP CALL!
Thanks to this terrific website, you can make your own Bacon Alarm Clock!
http://www.instructables.com/id/Bacon-Alarm-Clock/
