Does Nikki Minaj Believe “Capricorn One” Was Real? And A “Condor” Too – Two Prescient 70’s Conspiracy Thrillers!

The OG Of Conspiracy Films…

In a world where conspiracy theories run wild on social media – yes, I’m looking at you Nikki Minaj, let’s go back to an era when conspiracies were real! Well, at least in 70’s cinema…from films like “The Parallax View” with Warren Beatty to this taut thriller starring Robert Redford!

“3 Days Of The Condor” is a terrific thriller with a great cast and Director.

Redford plays Joe Turner (code name “Condor“), a bookish CIA researcher, who one day returns from lunch to find that his entire New York City office staff has been murdered!

Here’s the trailer:

“Condor” lets his superiors know…but was that a good thing? From this point on, he discovers there is a much bigger conspiracy underway, and he alone has to solve it because he is murdered as well.

Turner encounters Kathy Hale – the always terrific Faye Dunaway, and forces her to take him to her apartment and holds her hostage as he works out what is happening.

The film is directed by Sydney Pollack, who had an incredible career…the story is tight, the action sequences beautifully done, and great acting as well….a really good film.

Now, onto the second film in my “conspiracy double bill” – with a “Nikki Minaj connection:

This “conspiracy” is STILL being debated – by Nikki Minaj!

Listen to this! During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Katie Miller, Singer Nikki Minaj doubled down on her skepticism, stating, “No, I don’t think we landed on the moon”.

She probably thought the terrific 70’s film “Capricorn One” was a documentary!

Sam Waterston, James Brolin and yes, OJ Simpson star as three Astronauts who find out their “Mars landing” is going to be faked – and they don’t want any part of it! Yes, in the 70’s we were on our way to Mars already!

They try to stay alive as Reporter Elliott Gould tries to uncover the conspiracy…this film is terrific!

These are two great films from the best decade for cinema of all time….Redford starred in so many 70’s classics like “All The President’s Men”, “The Sting”, “Jeremiah Johnson”, “The Way We Were” and so many more…sadly, he died last year…here’s a look at his incredible career:

Of course, “Condor” Director Sydney Pollack had a great career as well – and acted a few times too!

“Tootsie” is one of the best comedies of all time – Pollack directed it and had a small role as well…click here for the trailer and all of the “Tootsie” trivia you didn’t know you needed!

I was a bad flier, so was he . . . also remember being on the same plane US > Sydney one night -whilst everyone else slept Honolulu > Fiji, we sat together enjoying our wine and talking non-stop. . . the nicest guy in the world . . . still remember now decades later quietly taking life apart . . . 🙂 !
