A Gorgeous, Orchestral Queen! Plus Some “Virgin Rock” That Is Fascinating!

Check Out This Stunning Concert Setting…

My good blogging friend Robbie shared a story of a beautiful concert she attended in this magical setting…

This candlelight cathedral concert offered up orchestral version of Beatles songs as well as Queen – here’s a snipped of this classic song:

Recognize it? To find out what the song is – but you probably already know, and what else they played so beautifully, check out Robbie’s great post here – she has videos, and get some great poetry as a bonus!

Robbie’s post came at a time when I just discovered this terrific youTube series:

“Virgin Rock!”

I found this terrific series where a classical Musician listens to classic rock songs for the first time and critiques them!

Amy Schaffer is a classical harpist, pianist, and music teacher, Director of Piano Studies and Assistant Director of Harp Studies for The Harp School. Amy holds multiple degrees in harp and piano performance and teaching, and is active as a solo and collaborative performer.

Oh, and she reviews rock songs on YouTube! She films herself listening to classics from Queen and many others and it is fascinating! As she said:

“I love challenges. It’s always good to step out of the comfort zone, and this channel documents one such journey. Rock music is not young and new anymore, so we can say it is enduring the test of time. If it has any significant value it deserves more than mere casual listening. Often, what is not instantly relatable holds the deepest meaning and value, so I decided to put time and effort into looking deeply to see what Rock offers us.”

Check her out as she reviews Queen!

I love this series, and I love Queen as well….I mean, how could you not?

Here is a look at the band’s incredible career, with music videos and live performances:

And of course, one of Queen’s greatest songs was co-written with this guy!

DAvid Bowie RIP

“Under Pressure!”

David Bowie’s collaboration with Queen on the classic hit “Under Pressure” was a story of wine-quelled madness, which you can read about here:
