Would You Rent A “Micro Suite?” It’s “Tiny Living” For A Reduced Price!

Check Out The “Micro Suite!”

At a time when an affordable apartment is getting harder and harder to find, one enterprising landlord shared an ad for a “micro suite” – see it above? Cozy I guess…

However, this Craigslist apartment listing was actually just a bed placed in a bathroom!

It happened in Vancouver, BC – a town that is huge – and hugely expensive – so when an ad for a “newly renovated micro studio located in the west end” was listed, it got lots of attention…but it did state it was for someone “who does not need much space”.

The “zero bedroom / one bath” living space was priced at $680/month – a steal!

Except that it was only 160 square feet of space, less than what the City of Vancouver defines as a rental “micro-dwelling” unit of 250 sq. ft.

The city’s “micro-dwelling” guidelines address how bathrooms are to be laid out with attention to privacy, sightlines and the direction of the door swing.

“Bathrooms must be physically separated from the remainder of the unit by partitions and a door to ensure privacy and to isolate noise and odors.”

I would hope so!

Oh well, another affordable apartment is off the market – although, how long could you live in a bathroom with a bed?

Remember this “nano apartment” I shared?

Yep, it’s approximately the size of a single parking spot!

Click here for the whole story of this shockingly small ‘nano” apartment!

Of course, it’s not just apartments that can be surprisingly small – how about this house in England?

  1. A few nights would be fine, but then I’m done. This is tiny! A bed in a bathroom says it all.

  2. I’m glad I don’t have to live there for any great time. Could do an overnight if I was by myself.

  3. As I have been living alone for quite awhile now I would have absolutely no problems with this – I would add another few indoor plants and somehow turn a part of the available into a writing desk and have all I need 🙂 ! I have always read and watched TV from my bed anyways !!!

Looks like the perfect bachelor pad for someone who can’t afford a regular-sized home. How much does a typical one cost?

    • Home prices in the US are $150k for 2 bed 2 bath in more rural parts…that same house in Los Angeles or San Francisco would be $1.5-$2 mil. 2000 square feet. A 1 bedroom apartment rents in smaller cities for $1k and larger cities $3-4k per month

  5. A bed in a bathroom is a bit cheeky as a let. I remember those Hong Kong apartments. Minute

  6. They have it marketed wrong. It’s not an apartment or a micro suite. It’s simply a bed. Ha, ha. When I was in my 20s and never at home, I could have handled this apartment. It would have driven me crazy any other time in my life. I would hope the price is significantly reduced too. 😎 😎
