An Iconic Movie Poster…
50 years ago this summer, this singular image, along with an immediately iconic soundtrack, wowed movie audiences as Bruce, a very unfriendly shark, bit down on the world!

Actor Roy Scheider took on the mighty beast and uttered these legendary words:
“We’re gonna need a bigger boat!”
Why am I telling you this? Well, I took my daughter and a friend to Universal Studios Hollywood yesterday, and of course we had to do the studio backlot tour!

This fun backlot tram tour takes you up close to how movies are made: you see the town square where “Back To The Future” was filmed, and you also head to Amity Island, the fictional getaway where Bruce The Shark terrorized people in 1975’s classic film “Jaws!”

The ride culminates in a visit by Bruce – and I had the perfect spot to capture it on video!
Enjoy!

Of course everyone survived…and we also saw an incredible movie location where “Jaws” Director Steven Spielberg filmed “The War Of The Worlds” – including a real 747 jet airliner broken up in pieces in a small neighborhood!

It’s really impressive! Check out the video I shot from the tram:
Spielberg has had a long career, but it was “Jaws”, released in the summer of 1975 that cemented his reputation…he seemed pretty relaxed while making the film:

He was anything but relaxed however – here is some great trivia about the making of the film!
The film spawned sequels, theme park rides, and even a place for baby to sleep!

Well, perhaps not – see this hilarious bassinet inspired by the film!
Since we’re talking killer sharks, how about going for a swim with Bruce?

Look at the size of this Shark! Magnificent!

Jaws is one of my favourite films, and I loved watching it came on the TV when I was growing up. It both terrified and amazed me, and still holds that wonder when I watch it now!

It’s a film that plays as well today as it did when released – isn’t it crazy that it’s 50 years old?!?!? Thanks for the comment!

What an interesting post I must scan again 🙂 ! At the time I was going thru’ a very difficult time in my life and the film was not of a genre I normally watched, so just remember the advertising! I must lack a sense of humour as the baby ‘cot’ looks horrendous to me . . .

I can only imagine that was a joke someone pulled…I’ve never seen it for sale!

Of course it was a ‘joke’ . . . but, if you think about it for a second, what is funny 🙂 !! . . . bestest . . .

Fifty years ago. Wow. And the look on Actor Roy Scheider’s face after seeing Jaws. Such a classic movie. I remember my brothers coming back and telling stories about the movie. That was all the encouragement I needed to steer clear of the ocean. Nope, no can do, I’ll stay here on the nice warm sand. Ha, ha.

HA! Yes, it’s crazy to think it was released in 1975! The Universal studios lot attraction premiered one year later and is still going strong – funny and goofy!

I loved Jaws. I was young when I saw it and it scared me to death. I still won’t swim at night 🤣😂

Yes, that opening scene with the late night swim probably influenced millions to stay out of the water at night! Thanks for the comment!
